This is obviously a time to tread carefully.

“I’m sorry,” I say in a quiet voice. “But you’ve done great work as the Miss Millbrook pageant organizer. Surely that must be a reward in and of itself.”

Ursula merely snorts.

“Who the fuck cares about that event? The girls just get dumber and more clueless every year. I swear, there’s something in the water in this city that’s turning you idiots into total bimbos.”

That, I beg to differ with, but I bite my lip because I don’t want to get into a screaming fight in the coffee shop. Meanwhile, Ursula continues with her tirade.

“Besides, being Miss Millbrook means meeting a certain standard, not to mention behaving with dignity and grace. Do you think you’ve done that? Do your actions in Colombo scream dignity and grace?” she asks, her voice dripping with sarcasm.

I blink at her. The silence between us is palpable because what could I possibly say? I was invited to an exclusive sex party on a private island. No, dignity and grace were absolutely not a part of my actions.

But I decide to take things slow. Maybe I can talk some reason into this woman.

“How was I behaving like a whore?” I ask carefully as Ursula sips at a hot coffee. “Everyone there was having fun.”

“How do you think?” she snorts. “I saw you the last night of the party. I saw that man with the scepter in his hand, and practically screamed when I realized what he was doing. I can’t believe that you’d let some brute use your regalia that way! Have you ever heard of respect? R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Look it up.”

I open my mouth, but Ursula cuts me off.

“You were bucking and screaming like a mare in heat,” she continues. “You were practically begging him to put it deeper in your ass, and I could hear your cries from clear across the beach.” Her voice is rising in volume now, and I lower mine while looking around.

“Can we go somewhere else and talk about this? Maybe your office?”

“No!” she bites out. “I want to do this now, because obviously you have no shame. You are disgusting, and I will make sure you lose your crown. Say goodbye to Miss Millbrook. Say goodbye to everything you’ve worked for because you’re a no-good little slut who abuses her office. Who’s going to use that scepter now? It’s covered with your butt gunk, seeing that it’s been deep in your ass. Disgusting,” she says again, shaking her head before throwing her coffee out. “Now I’m leaving because I can’t stand to be around you anymore.”

She gets up but I stop her with one last question.

“But Ursula, did you see the man I was with? I mean, I know it was dark that night.”

She shoots me one last withering look.

“No, because it doesn’t matter who you were with. Who the fuck cares? What matters is that you abused your position. You took your scepter and gave it to a man to ram up your ass. Who does that? Eew. Now get out of my face.”

With that, she stalks out like a queen making her exit. The door swooshes shut behind her, and I sink back into my chair with shock. Clearly, some of the other customers overheard our conversation because they’re staring at me with wide eyes, their mouths agape. But I don’t care because at least Ursula doesn’t know that it was Logan with me. She has no idea that I was on the island with the handsome billionaire, and that’s how I want to keep it.

But what do I do now? There’s probably nothing I can do, come to think of it. Ursula’s going to tell everyone, and unless I reveal Logan’s secret life, I’m going to lose my crown.

Tears rise to my eyes as I sniffle. It seems so unfair, but then again, I took a risk when I agreed to a week of wickedness with the alpha male. It’s just that now, it’s come time to pay the price, and unfortunately, my heart hurts at the cost.

CHAPTER 8

Logan

I sigh before pushing my desk chair away from said desk itself. This fucking sucks. I’m alone in my home office, and I should be banging away at paperwork. After all, I was gone all last week, and shit piled up. Now, there are new properties for me to assess, not to mention profit and loss statements, tax information… yep, all the fun stuff that goes along with being the CEO of a major builder.

But still, all I can think about is Rocky. Her curves haunt me, and I’ve been beating them out in the shower just at her memory. Yet I haven’t reached out to the pretty brunette because we had a deal. We’d enjoy a hedonistic week together where I plundered her body, and then kaput. Our agreement was over and it was sayonara.
