“Heads up, my dad thinks you’re a bad guy and he’s like ... super passionate. Good luck with that.”

I turn and smile. “Hey, Dad. I thought you had gone home.”

His eyes are on Riggs, who turns and stands, extending a hand. “I’m Cash Riggs. It’s nice to meet you finally, sir.”

Damn. The biker has respect. I dig that.

“You’re the biker from next door,” Dad says, not taking Riggs’ hand.

“Yeah, that’s me. Not here to cause problems. Just watching the singin’.”

“If you harm my daughter ...”

I put my hands over my face and groan.

“No intentions of doin’ her any harm, you have my word.”

God. Why is he being so nice?

Dad goes silent for a minute, and then says, “You helped her out last night.”

I peer through my fingers. Riggs nods. “Yeah, she won’t have trouble with them again.”

Dad nods and then extends his hand. Riggs takes it and shakes my father’s hand.

“I appreciate it,” Dad says, and then his eyes swing to me before he walks off.

“God, dads are the worst,” I groan.

“He loves you, should appreciate that.”

“Ugh, I do,” I mutter, facing the stage again and clapping when Bridget finishes her song.

It’s weird, standing here with Riggs. We’re meant to be enemies and, yet, we can also seem to get along so incredibly well.

I hate it.

I also love it.

“I’m getting a drink,” I say, attempting to escape.

He follows me to the bar, claiming to need a beer, too.

“What can I get you?” Jade asks me, wiggling her brows when Riggs sits beside me.

I give her wide eyes and mouth ‘stop it’. “Vodka. Beer for him.”

Jade keeps the grin she’s sporting and gets us our drinks before moving on to serve others.

“Why are you being nice to me?” I say, looking at Riggs. “Don’t you have friends over there to talk to?”

He just smirks.

Damn him.

Is this one of his sneaky tactics? I bet it is.

Is he playing harder than me?

I guess I’ll find out.

“GOD, HE IS SOMETHING else, isn’t he?” Jade murmurs, staring at Riggs who has joined his group again, this time with a lady on his lap.

“Stop staring at him, you’ll give him a complex,” I scoff.

“Seriously, why haven’t you jumped all over that yet? Go and flick blondie off and get onto it, girl. He’d blow your mind, I just know it.”

“I don’t want to get on anything, we’re enemies and all that ...”

She raises her brows. “Didn’t look like it before.”

“There you are!”

I turn to see Ramona strolling in, looking gorgeous as ever. Thank god, she got in just in time. I love Jade, don’t get me wrong, but the girl would fuck anything hot that had a penis, and I have no doubt her fantasies tonight will involve Cash Riggs.

Mine won’t.

Absolutely not.

“Hey!” I say, hugging Ramona. “You saved me.”

“From Jade?” she asks, pulling back.

“Yeah, she’s trying to get me onto Riggs.”

“Her and the rest of us.” Ramona grins. “Speaking of, why are they here?”

I shrug. “They decided to come and see what all the fuss was about. They’re behaving. A little too much, if you ask me.”

Ramona glances at them. “Where is the boss?”

I turn and see Riggs has gone, the woman too. Oh, oh, no he doesn’t. I glance around the café and over to the bar and stage. He isn’t in here anymore. A quick peek through the glass windows shows me he’s not standing out front. Did he take her out and back home? It’s likely, but I’m going to check out back anyway. God knows he’s charming enough to get out there without anyone being suspicious.

I tell Ramona I’ll be back and rush out past the bar to the doors that lead out back. I move past my office, that is closed and locked. I go to round the corner to the staff bathrooms when I hear them. The sounds are clearly that of woman’s pleasure, a soft whimper. Great, he’s fucking her in my hallway. Who does he actually think he is?

I pause and listen for a minute.

“Why were you staring at that girl so much?” the girl whimpers after a few minutes.

What girl?

“Don’t know what you’re fuckin’ talkin’ about. Are you goin’ to fuck me or are we here to chat?”

Yeesh, he’s brutal.

“I saw you, you were looking at her every time I looked at you. The girl that owns this place.”

Wait, me?

“You’re imaginin’ shit, now shut up and let’s do this.”

“Ugh, you’re a dick. I could clearly see you were into her.”

Oh, boy.

“She’s a fuckin’ psycho. Can’t fuckin’ stand her.”

Oh.

My.

God.

Is that how he talks about me behind my back?

Is that what he thinks of me?

“Oh, she’s the one who cut the power cord?” the girl asks, as if happy to hear he doesn’t like me.

“Yeah, she drives me crazy. Nothin’ to worry about there. She does nothin’ for me.”

Oh, wow.
