“Claxton Banks attorney at law.” Who the fuck? “What do you want?” He opened the brief case in his hand and held out a thick ass envelope. “The fuck is that?”

“I am the attorney for the late Clyde Drexel’s estate. He asked me to give this to you on the event of his death.” What the fuck is this guys’ problem? He couldn’t get my attention when he was alive, he’s been dead eight fucking days and already his shit is all over my life. I looked down at the envelope like it was a snake ready to strike. Same as if you ask me.

“Sir, I need you to take this.”

“I need you to get the fuck out my face. Why the fuck would I want anything of that asshole’s?” Okay the letter made reference to a package from his lawyer, but I was already over this shit.

“You have the girl don’t you?” Well fuck!

I snatched the papers from his hands and turned to walk away. “You better get outta here. Guys in suits make my boys nervous as fuck and when they get nervous some off colored shit is bound to happen.”

I heard the gate open and the engine start before he hightailed it the fuck outta here. The kid was in my office and I wasn’t about to open this shit with her in there. Her nosy ass would be all over this shit.

Danny and Davis who were at my back when I went to meet the suit were on my ass. “You two ain’t got nothing better to do than shadow my ass?”

“Nope.”

“I can find something. Old lady Darcy called yesterday she lost one of her cats again.”

“Which one?”

“Jinx.”

“Get the fuck outta here, I got bike chrome to shine.” Davis broke off and headed towards the shop with Danny hot on his heels. I knew that would take care of them.

Old lady Darcy is the town’s proverbial cat lady. She had like twenty of those shits living in her house. Every time one of them got away she called us up to play round up. Jinx is a mean ass tomcat who’d as soon scratch your eyes out as let you rescue him from whatever shit he’d got himself into.

I found a quiet corner where I’d be left alone for at least ten minutes before anyone needed anything from me before opening up the envelope. For some reason I wasn’t too excited about whatever was waiting for me in there. What could he possibly have to say to me after all this time?

While he was alive we both pretended the other was dead. The only time I even gave him a thought was when he tried homing in on my business, when he’d sent his goon squad to threaten me if I didn’t give him a cut. I’d sent them back with holes in them and he’d learned not to fuck with me after that. Though he’d found little ways to fuck with my crew since then.

The papers looked like legalese. As I shifted through I found a copy of a will. What the fuck? This asshole was really out of his fucking mind. I read through the papers carefully, twice. Looks like the old bastard had been siphoning money for the past thirty years. He was worth a cool two mil easy according to the papers in my hands.

Chapter 8

STONE

***

I sat in silence for the next five minutes until the anger cooled. So he’d finally admitted it. Son of a bitch. But that wasn’t the problem. I already knew he’d killed my dad. It was the rest of shit he had in there that pissed me off. But how did he know I wouldn’t take this shit out on his kid? How did he know that I was too much like my dad to harm an innocent?

I went to the office to put the papers in the safe. Fuck if I was going to marry his spawn to take control of what was rightfully mine. His will was a neat trick. He’d boxed me in nicely, if I was interested in his shit. He’d missed a step though. I never had any interest in my dad’s legacy. Ma might jump on that shit though, that’s why I won’t be telling her about this fuck.

Me, I made up my mind a long time ago to make my own way, to build my own legacy. If I’d wanted I could’ve taken Drexel out a long fucking time ago and no one would’ve been the wiser. There were times when I was younger that I’d given it some serious thought but in the end I’d decided the best revenge was to do for this town what my dad had wanted to thirty years ago. I wanted him to see that I was better, that my dad was better.
