This is our life.

This is bliss.

Epilogue Cooper

Cooper

The Defenders didn’t make it to the Bowl this year, but that’s okay. We had a hell of a season with only two losses until we got into the playoffs. It was a damn good season, one I’m proud as hell to be a part of.

Something else I’m proud to be a part of is the duo that is made up of me and my beautiful wife. It’s the second week of February, and we’re in Fiji on our honeymoon. This was supposed to be the week we were getting married, but we just couldn’t wait that long. So here we are, a little over three months into our wedded bliss and relaxing on the beach.

“We didn’t get to do this last time we were here,” Reese says.

Her eyes are closed as she lounges in a bikini that should be illegal in all countries.

“We had more important things to do,” I remind her. Not just getting married but staying in bed all day the day after. I refused to let her leave. I didn’t care that our friends and family were here. I just needed some time with my wife. Time that she graciously agreed to. I took shit about it from Nixon, and I could see the glint in my father’s eyes as we said goodbye at the airport. Hers gave me a look. Not really a warning, but something similar. It said “take care of her.” I couldn’t imagine being in his shoes and knowing that my daughter was…. Yeah, don’t want to go there.

“What are you thinking so hard about over there?”

“About how much I love you.” Not a complete lie, as that’s all I think about. How I came close to losing the best fucking thing that ever happened to me. She’s never not on my mind. Never.

“Look at you being all sweet.”

“When am I not?” She lowers her glasses to her nose and gives me a heated look. “Baby, even when I’m fucking you, I’m sweet,” I counter, making her laugh. I love the sound of her laugh. No one can make her laugh like I do.

“Don’t give me that look, Cooper Reeves. I need a break, and you promised me some time in the sun.”

“Fine,” I concede. Even I’m a little dehydrated and drained from all the sex we’ve been having. I can’t seem to help myself when it comes to her. I don’t get to spend nearly enough time with her during the season. I’m trying to make up for that. And this is where she took my last name. This place alone does something to my libido.

“I talked to Tessa. They fly out tomorrow.”

“It’ll be good to see them.”

“Definitely. They’re going to start trying for a baby.”

“Really?”

“Yep. She’s really excited. Nixon too.”

“Maybe we should try?” I toss the idea out there.

She turns to look at me, pushing her glasses on the top of her head. “I can’t wait until we do, but I think we need a little more time. I have so much with the foundation, and it’s just starting to get off the ground.” My face falls, and she reaches over and places her hands on my arm. “That doesn’t mean we can’t keep practicing.”

“There’s never going to be a good time.”

“I agree, but when we do decide to try, I’d like to try to make it happen so that when I deliver, you’re home. I want you there.”

“Yeah,” I agree. My wife knows me well enough to understand that if she were to go into labor during a game, I’d say fuck the game. There is nothing in this life that is more important than her.

We’re still young. We have plenty of time, but the thought of her carrying our baby, that turns me on like nothing else can.

“Coop.” Her voice is raspy as her eyes lock in on my hardening cock. “Stop thinking about it.” She laughs. The husky sound washes over me.

“I can’t help myself, Mrs. Reeves.” I smile at her. We’ve been married for a few months and I still can’t stop calling her that. I don’t think I’ll ever tire of it.

“You drive a hard bargain with just that look.” She points at me. “But that…” Her eyes drop to my cock. “That ups the ante.”

“I’m good with practice,” I tell her, wagging my eyebrows.

I want a family with her, but I know she has so much she wants to do with the foundation. As long as she knows that I’m ready when she is. I won’t pressure her, but if I’ve learned anything over the years, it’s to be transparent with her about what I want. Her. Our kids. Our life together. What more could a man ask for?

Epilogue Reese

Reese

He has no idea how hard it is for me to tell him we’re not ready just yet. I want nothing more than to start our family. At the same time, this foundation is my baby. He created this for me, and together, with his support, we’re building something incredible that is going to help thousands of children in need.
