But when I see Diego flaunting his mouth-watering body, I want to boss him around and grant zero slack. He’s mine to drool over. No one else’s.

“You have nothing on under my shirt.” Diego breaks me from my thoughts. I look down at myself, feeling confused as to why he would have a problem with what I’m wearing. His shirt is longer than most of the things I wear on a daily basis.

“Don’t Google her last Grammy’s dress.” Clover chimes in, not helping the situation. “Oh, and stay away from the last music video, too. And the half dozen before that.”

“This is actually more than I’m used to wearing, to be honest.” If he googled me, he would see for himself. I don’t want him to google me. I want him to learn who I am when I’m just being me. Not when the world tries to portray me or how I’m told to be.

“Things change.” He drops to his knees in front of me. His face still comes up to my breasts. I watch as he holds out my shorts for me to step into. I put one hand on his shoulder to balance myself as I step into them. He’s being ridiculous, but I’m finding that I enjoy his jealousy.

Diego has such a triumphant smile once he gets me to put the shorts on that I would likely do anything in the whole world if it made him always smile like that.

“What’s wrong with your face?” Tiernan says when he walks past us.

“Don’t poke the bear,” I say to Tiernan. He might be the one with all the jokes around here, but he’s also the loner. Always drifting around somewhere. You’d think he was looking for something.

“Bear? I would say he’s more like King Kong,” Clover adds. I ignore all of them, giving Diego my full attention.

“Shirt.” I give him a push. He doesn't budge at first. When I push him again, he moves this time. Not because I pushed him, but because he wanted to. The man is a force to be reckoned with. But with me, he’s different.

Once he pulls his shirt on, I can get on with icing the cake and getting it to Bells. I’ll have to take it to her since Barrow still has her holed up in his part of the lodge. The thought of someone actually keeping Bells against her will brings a smile to my face. I’ll continue to let her run with that story, but I know the truth. Bells might have her first crush ever. She’s likely going to be mad at herself about that, which is ridiculous. But that’s Bells.

“I’m going to ice this cake, and then we have a date with Bells,” I tell Clover. “You should grab some ice cream and whatever utensils you think we’ll need for our cake date.”

“A cake date sounds perfect.” She heads off in pursuit of the ice cream and whatever else she thinks we need.

I gather the ingredients and whip up the icing. Thoughts of everything that has happened between Diego and me bring a smile to my face as I spread the icing onto the cake. I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so happy.

“What are you smiling about, little songbird?” Diego’s warm breath tickles my neck as his big body crowds me from behind. I allow my head to fall back against his chest, enjoying him.

“Thoughts of you,” I admit. I want him to know he’s the one who’s making me happy. That gets me a growl from him. I swipe my finger along the edge of the bowl I used to make the icing and turn in his arms so I’m facing him. I lift my finger to his mouth to give him a taste of the sugary goodness, but he doesn’t take it. Instead he leans down to take my mouth. The kiss is perfect. Possessive, but sweet at the same time.

“Got my own sweetness. That’s all I’ll ever need.”

I swear my heart melts at his words. How the heck am I ever going to be able to leave here?

“The only thing I could find was vanilla.” Clover interrupts us and holds up a container of vanilla ice cream.

“You eat it.” Diego wraps his big hand around my wrist and brings my own finger to my mouth. I suck my finger, eating the delicious icing myself. His eyes heat, but he lets me wiggle past him.

“That should work.” We put some of the vanilla ice cream over a small piece of the cake I made for Bells. Clover takes it to her first. Then a line forms with everyone else wanting some cake, too.

There is barely anything left once everyone gets a piece. I should make more. These men are not only housing us but feeding us, too. I’m sure I could write a check easily, but I have a feeling none of them would take it. I’m not even sure they need it from the looks of this place. But I do think Diego needs me, and I know I need him too.
