“Upstairs?” Bryan asks and I bounce up the steps to the second floor. “We have five bedrooms and two bathrooms on this floor.”
“Five bedrooms?”
“Yes, and there’s a finished loft space in the attic. I thought that could be my office.”
“Or one of these five bedrooms could be your office.”
“No, sweetheart.” He presses me against the wall and kisses me. “First, I’m putting the babies in you, and then we’re putting them in those bedrooms.”
I reach down and touch his hard penis through his pants. I want him inside me so badly that I’m practically gushing under my dress. He spins me around and uses one hand to yank off my panties. He holds my hands against the wall and quickly enters me from behind.
God, it feels so good to have him inside me. With the baby, I’ve been too exhausted to be as intimate as I’d like. He takes me in deep, fast strokes then pauses so he can finger my clit. As the orgasmic waves peak inside me, he resumes his wild thrusts and we come together.
“That’s one room down.” He chuckles as he adjusts his pants.
We tour the remaining rooms and return to the kitchen. As I gaze out the window above the farmhouse sink, I ask, “What’s that back there?”
“What?”
“That little cottage. Is that a second house?”
“Oh yeah. That’s the caretaker’s cottage.”
“What do we need that for?”
“For the caretaker.”
“We have a caretaker?”
“Yes, come on. Let’s see if she’s home so you can meet her.”
“We have a female caretaker? What does she take care of?”
“I’ll let her explain that to you. Come on,” he says and leads me out the backdoor.
“I don’t feel right just barging in on some woman like this. Shouldn’t we have called first or something?”
“She knew we were coming today. I called ahead.”
“Well, you sure do keep a lot of secrets from me, Daddy.”
“No, I don’t. I just like to have all the details worked out before I share these things with you. That’s all.”
“What if she came into the house while we were… Oh, that would have been embarrassing.”
“Hush now, girl. This is a good day. Nothing bad will happen today. I promise you.”
I take a deep breath as we approach the quaint little cottage. For the life of me, I can’t imagine why Bryan would think we needed a caretaker. Is she a nanny or a housekeeper? I don’t know what he’s thinking, and he isn’t being very forthcoming about this whole thing.
Bryan raises the knocker and lets it drop on the door. I can hear someone inside coming toward us so I take a deep breath and put on the best smile I can muster under the circumstances. The door opens and I grab onto Bryan’s arm to keep from falling over.
“Hang on, baby girl. Are you surprised?”
My mother steps out and smiles at me. She looks so young and healthy that I almost don’t recognize her. She holds her arms out to me and says, “Beth, I don’t even know how to begin to make things up to you, but I want to try.”
As tears stream down my face, I embrace her. “Just seeing you like this is enough. You look beautiful.”
We enter the cottage where she has a fire burning in the fireplace and an open book on the little floral sofa. I still can’t believe she’s here and my amazing husband arranged all of this for me. It’s a dream I never dared to dream, and it’s coming true right before my eyes.
“Where is that little girl?” my mother asks.
Before I can answer, Bryan says, “She’s at my parent's place. I’m going to head over there so the two of you can catch up. When you’re ready, call me and I’ll come back to get you for dinner. She’ll be waiting to meet you there.”
I walk him outside and fall into his arms. “I can’t believe you did all of this. I love you so much, Daddy.”
“I love you too, baby girl. Anything for you. I mean it.”
EXTENDED EPILOGUE
BRYAN
It’s been five years since Beth and I made the move to the country, and the commute to the city has become a real pain in the ass for me.
As hard as it is for me to step aside, I hired an executive director of operations to take on the day-to-day responsibilities of the company, and I only go into the city two days per week now. Beth teases me about my semi-retired status, but she loves having me at home just as much as I love being here.
I’ve even started spending time in the workshop with my father. With his help, I’ve made a little surprise for my beautiful wife who’s currently four months pregnant with baby number four.
“I need to call it a day, Pops,” I tell him as I brush the sawdust off of my pants.
