“Fuck yes,” Jude replied. “But it’s cool too.”
I tugged Linc closer and ruffled his hair. “What’s up, Short Stuff?”
“Ugh. I hate you! Why are you so jelly that I’m prettier than you?”
We all laughed, making our way farther into the yard. Theo had already found Trey, and they were chatting about something or other. Ash and Beau had a game of football going, because—fucking obviously. Jace, Dax, Owen, Keegan, and Tyson were out there with them.
“Come on. Let’s go play with them,” Jude said, because again, football. Why wouldn’t we?
Rush was manning the grill, and Lincoln was chatting with Sawyer and Carter, who were swimming.
“What’s up, BB?” I said to my brother as we passed by. He and Carter were doing great as ever. There was nothing like seeing him happy…and it felt pretty fucking great to be just as happy with Jude.
“Hey, did you guys bring swimming trunks?” Sawyer asked.
“Nah…football,” I replied.
Carter rolled his eyes. “Your brother is such a dude-bro,” he teased.
We played football for a while. When Rush announced the food was done, the game was forgotten so we could all eat.
We were all laughing and chatting. Every once in a while, I would sit back and just watch everyone. Our group of friends were great.
“How are your classes going?” Dax asked.
“Good,” Jude replied. “I’m really loving them.” He was planning on staying in school. It made for a bit less time together, but he was happy and doing something he loved, which was what mattered most to me. I had him in my bed every night, right where I wanted him.
“Oh my God, we’re great. Do you guys realize how great we are?” Linc asked out of the blue.
“Umm…I mean, we are but you’ve lost me, Short Stuff,” I replied.
“Just all of us…our friends, our community. The way we magically turn men gay or bi.”
“Oh God. Not that again,” Sawyer grumbled.
“Do I have to go over the evidence again? We turned Jude, Jace, Owen, and Ash,” Linc replied.
“I was already bi.” Jace chuckled.
“Yeah, but it was my magic dick that made you really admit it,” Dax replied.
“Yes, but still bi,” Jace said.
“Yeah, gay as hell here too,” Ash added. “Sure, I was closeted as hell, but I like to pretend I was waiting for Beau to be ready.”
“Aww!” Linc said.
“Always bi here too,” Owen chimed in.
“Yep, same here, though it wasn’t until Cam that I let myself admit it.” Jude grabbed my hand.
“My boyfriend is the best.” I smiled. Sawyer made vomiting noises. It was sort of his thing now.
Tyson looked as if he didn’t know what to do with us, but then Trey, Theo, Ray, and Kathy approached, and the subject was effectively dropped.
We finished eating and hung out a bit. It was an hour or so later when Rush stood up and cleared his throat. “Can I have everyone’s attention for a minute?”
We all quieted and looked his way. Lincoln was sitting in a chair and looked up at him, his forehead wrinkled in confusion.
“As you all know, I won another Supercross championship. It was fucking awesome. The best feeling, and…and I’ve decided that’s it for me. I love the sport, but I want to go out on top. There’s so much else I want to do, one of those things is working with Ash and Beau at their sports program.”
They both nodded, telling me they knew that part of it.
Rush looked down at Lincoln, and oh fuck, I knew that look. It was the same one Ash had before… Rush lowered down to one knee. Linc’s shaking hand covered his mouth. Kathy started to cry.
“Red…I love you so much, baby. You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. You’re crazy and high maintenance, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. You make me laugh like no one can, and you have the biggest damn heart. I still can’t believe you risked it on me, and I promise you, I’ll always take care of it. I want to take care of it as your husband if you’ll have me.”
Rush pulled out a ring, and Lincoln jumped at him, tackling him to the ground before Rush could get it on his finger.
“Yes! Fuck yes! I will so marry you!” Then they were hugging and kissing and everyone was cheering.
My eyes found Jude, who was looking at me. “Did you know?” I asked softly.
“Yeah…yeah, I did. I’m happy for them…and I’m so damn in love with you. You’re all I’ll ever want.”
I nodded, but I hadn’t needed the words. I didn’t doubt what Jude and I were to each other. “Come here, Beautiful.” He leaned in and I kissed him, a soft, chaste kiss, and then we were celebrating Lincoln and Rush’s news.
They had to find the ring Linc had knocked out of Rush’s hand, and then Linc spent the rest of the night with a smile plastered across his face as he showed it off to everyone.
