“Stop.” He threads his fingers through my hair and pulls my head back. “You’re tired.”

I can’t fight the yawn this time. I’ve spent a full day at work, cooked an elaborate meal, and been given the best orgasm of my life. “It’s OK.”

“You will sleep tonight. I have all the time in the world to break in my virgin pussy tomorrow.” His tone is firm.

Maybe I should be offended by the crass words, but they thrill me. I love the way he’s calling my pussy his, like he owns me. I’d love to be owned by Roman, to belong to only him. A million of those fantasies of being his wife float through my head but I’m too tired to tell him about those.

“I’ll rest for a few minutes,” I say as I drop my head back onto his chest. Part of me is afraid to sleep. I don’t want to wake tomorrow to find all of this has been nothing more than another one of my lonely fantasies.

GABBY

It’s not a fantasy, I realize the next morning as I open my eyes to Roman in the bed next to me. He’s snoring lightly, and he’s no longer wearing clothes other than a pair of black boxer briefs that encase a very prominent bulge.

I drink in the sight, appreciating his sexy body before mother nature calls me from the bed. I’m quiet as I leave, not wanting to wake him. I nearly trip over his clothes on the floor, the ones he was wearing last night. My toe stubs against something solid, and I lean down to pull the little black box from his pocket.

I look from it to him, knowing instantly what this is. I’m going to have some serious questions when he wakes up.

After I’ve taken care of business, I pad into the living room. The storm outside is still raging. Rain lashes the windowpanes, and the screen door bangs loudly in the breeze. Thunder rolls, and I shiver, thankful to be inside.

The aquarium hums, casting a blue glow inside the room. The fish continue to swim around, oblivious to anything outside of their tank.

My phone rings out, interrupting the stillness of the moment. I scramble for it, answering the call as soon as I see Ivy’s name. She’s my best friend. She has been since she moved here two years ago. We have the same sense of humor, the same taste in movies and music, and the same hopeless crushes on unavailable mountain men.

“Hello,” I whisper into the phone.

“Where are you? Your brother said you weren’t home and you’re not at the garage, so I’m starting to freak out over here,” She says all of those things in one breath, and I feel bad that I worried my best friend.

“I’m fine.”

“Maybe that works on other people, but I’m your bestie,” she chastises me.

“I’m kind of…at Roman’s cabin.” I cringe, knowing she’ll demand an explanation. I’m not even sure I know how to put everything that happened into words.

She lets out a delighted squeal. “You’re at Roman’s cabin? I need to know everything!”

“It’s complicated.” Normally, I wouldn’t keep my bestie in the dark about something like this. But she doesn’t know that I’ve been staying at Roman’s cabin without his permission. OK, so it’s trespassing. I’ve been trespassing. Still, I can’t tell my bestie that.

“Describe complicated. Remember, I have all day since the ice cream shop is not open for business today.”

I let out a breath and flop down on Roman’s couch next to Chester. The little kitty opens one eye to glare at me reproachfully before hopping down from the sofa. “I came over to his place last night and made him dinner. Then he kissed me.”

“He kissed you!” She lets out a whoop. “Was he like a really good kisser?”

“The best.” Neither of us are very experienced when it comes to men, but I’m pretty sure that Roman is in the top ten kissers of all time. Probably even the number one spot.

“Wait, if all he did was kiss you, why are you still there this morning? Did you —?” She doesn’t finish the sentence.

“Sort of. I think, I don’t know.” I explain everything we did just giving her the basics. I don’t want to scar my bestie for life, but I could also use her feedback.

She lets out a dreamy sigh when I finish explaining all of the story. “Wow, so what happens next?”

I glance around his cozy cabin, my heart sinking. He said he wanted me to stay, but I’m pretty sure that was something he said in the moment. Out loud, I say, “I’m not sure.”

“But it was good for you, right?” Ivy has that concerned big sister note in her voice.

“It was amazing.” I break into a fit of giggles, unable to fight the giddy feeling in my stomach. But I stop when I see Roman is standing there in jeans and no T-shirt. I love the sight of this man shirtless. Especially when he’s bringing me a cup of hot coffee like he is right now.
