I may be jumping the goddamn gun, but I don't exactly care. I've been spending years working hard, getting the bills paid, and saving up a nest egg. Now, I'm going to go fight for what I want, and one look at that woman and I knew exactly what I was craving, what I was needing. Her. Her alone.
Damn, I’m spun up something bad.
I wrap a towel around my waist and walk to the kitchen to get myself a cold beer. Before I even twist the cap, though, there's a knock on my front door. I look at the time. It's 7:00 in the evening and I wasn't expecting anyone. Figured I might as well microwave a frozen burrito, so I know it's not pizza coming.
I walk to the door and look through the peephole. Lo and behold, it's the nanny from next door.
I don't hesitate. Damn. I pull open the door with a grin on my face, happy as hell to see her.
Her eyes widen as she takes me in, wearing nothing but a towel. Guess I could have put on pants before I greeted her, but I was too excited.
She looks sexy, in blue jeans and a black tank top, her curly hair wild around her shoulders, demanding I rake my fingers through her curls. I clench my jaw instead, resisting the impulse. It's then I notice she's holding something.
A measuring cup.
"Hey Major," she says. "I know it's getting late, but..."
"It's not late," I say. "It's just 7:00 at night. And I was just thinking about you."
Her cheeks go pink at that. Her chest rises and falls, and damn, her tits look good. They're pushed up high and together, and fuck, I want to bury my face in them. I swallow, focusing on her face instead. "How can I help you?"
"You were thinking about me?" She licks her lips. "Well, I guess we both were on each other's minds. But I was wondering, actually, if you had a spare cup of sugar?"
I swallow. "You want sugar?"
She nods slowly. "Yeah. I have the night off, so I thought I'd bake a cake."
"Well, why don't you come in and let me see what I got in the kitchen."
She steps inside and damn if I don't smile. Here she is, the girl I've been dreaming about, right here in my house.

I came over here because I did need a cup of sugar.
Sure, I could have walked to the grocery store, or I could have walked back into Todd and Jane’s house and raided their pantry, but instead, I went to the one place I told myself I would not go.
I was baking this cake in the first place for a major distraction because all day long, I've been thinking about the man across the street. I know he's been watching me the last few days, and every time I noticed him mowing his lawn or weeding the flowerbed or changing his oil, I knew he had one eye on the house.
The whole thing was pretty damn sweet, and honestly, appreciated. I felt a little vulnerable being in this new town in this new home with these children I just met. But knowing that Major was across the street keeping an eye on me, on us, made me feel less anxious.
The problem with knowing Major was watching me the last few days was I couldn't stop thinking about him either. When I went to bed last night, he was the only thing on my mind, and I tossed and turned for hours, my body aching for his touch.
I've never actually been touched by a man before, but the idea of his big hands on me... God, it made me wet.
So I was going to bake this cake as a way to get my mind off of him, and yet here I am at his front door with a measuring cup, asking him for some sugar.
I lick my lips again. My mouth waters at the sight of him. He's standing in nothing but a towel, showing me his ladder of abs, the full sleeves of his tattoos, and he looks even more handsome than I remembered when he was carrying my mattress to my apartment.
He has strong arms, biceps that could just pick me up and do all sorts of things with me. Throw me over his shoulder maybe, or into the middle of his bed.
"Are you okay?" he asks. "I think I lost you for a second."
I blink, remembering that I am right here in Major's hallway. He shuts the door behind us, and there we are, him and me. Him nearly naked, me wishing I were.
"So you wanted some sugar?"
"Right," I say, holding up the measuring cup as if proving something.
"Okay, well, let's see what I got in the kitchen. I have to admit, I'm not much of a baker."
