His gaze skimmed over me. “You’ve got great hair, so I bet you’re damn good at what you do. Nothing wrong with going for the brass ring when you’ve got the skills to back it up.”

“Yeah, but it’s pretty scary to think about, let alone say out loud.” I flashed him a wry grin. “Like I’m going to jinx my chances of making it happen sometime in the far-out future. You know what I mean?”

He nodded. “Yeah, football players can be a superstitious lot, so I understand.”

Our conversation lightened as he shared some funny locker room stories about traditions the players have—like the one who wore the same boxers for every game, all the way back from when he was a freshman in college. Before I knew how much time had passed, the server came around to announce it was the last call.

My lips curved into a frown, and I groaned, “I can’t believe how late it is. I guess I should grab Ivy so we can grab a cab and head back to our apartment.”

“You don’t need to do that.” He pulled a set of keys from his pocket. “I drove, so I can take you.”

As much as I wanted that extra little time with him, Soho was out of his way, so I tried turning him down. But he wouldn’t have it any other way.

“You don’t have to give us a ride,” Lorna insisted as I guided her and Ivy out to the small, private parking lot behind the club. “We can take a cab.”

“Stop arguing with me, lass,” I grunted when I stopped beside a red BMW and punched a code on the door to unlock it. “I’m not going to let you take a cab at two in the morning when I’m perfectly capable of driving you home.”

“But you have to go all the way out to Long Island—”

“It’s on the way,” I interrupted, opening the back door for Ivy and then the front passenger for Lorna.

“It is not!” she protested.

“Give it up, Lorna,” Ivy advised as she slid into the car. “This ride is awesome,” she sighed, making me chuckle before shutting the door.

“Yeah, give it up, lass,” I teased. Her cheeks dusted with pink, and I winked before helping her into the seat and pulling the belt across her to click it into place.

“I can buckle myself,” she whispered.

“I know,” I replied at the same low volume. “But I want to take care of you.”

She looked a little shell-shocked at my statement, and I just grinned before standing and shutting her door.

I shook out my arm as I walked around the car. It was tingling from where it had brushed up against her tits, and the sensation was making its way to my already hard as steel dick.

Once we were all settled, I navigated through the New York City streets with ease. I’d grown up on Long Island, but I’d gone to college in the city and lived there until I took my job with the Nighthawks and bought a house twenty minutes from the stadium. Plus, it was late, and while plenty of people were still out and about, the traffic was thinning.

Unfortunately, that meant we arrived at Lorna’s apartment much faster than I would have liked. By some miracle, there was an empty spot a few cars down from her front door, and I glided into it before shutting off the engine.

“Seriously,” Ivy piped up sleepily from the back seat. “Nice ride, O’Hara.”

“Thanks,” I chuckled. I placed my hand over Lorna’s and waited for her to look at me before giving her a soft smile. “Wait for me, okay?”

She blushed prettily and nodded, so I gave her hand a soft squeeze before letting go and exiting the car.

I opened Ivy’s door first and helped her out, then Lorna. When we were all standing on the sidewalk, Ivy put her hands up and let out an incredibly fake, overdramatic yawn. “Well, I’m beat. I’m gonna go up to bed. You two kids have fun.” Then she leaned in and whispered something to Lorna that made her whole face flush before glancing back at me. “Thanks for the ride, O’Hara.”

I barely managed a, “You’re welcome,” before she pranced toward their building.

Shaking my head in amusement, I glanced down at Lorna and raised an eyebrow. “What’s got you so flustered?” I asked softly, running the tip of a finger over one of her cheeks. The blush made her freckles pop, and I added connecting them with my tongue to the very long list of things I’d planned to do to her when I finally got her in my bed.

Lorna cleared her throat, and her eyes darted away. “Nothing.” Her voice practically squeaked, and I laughed.

“Now why don’t I believe you?” I grasped her hips and dragged her to me before wrapping her up in my embrace.
