“Oh—it talks! I love how everything talks to you here!” Abbey exclaimed.

“Yes, it’s very convenient,” Solon agreed. “I guess we ought to give it a try.”

“Yes, let’s try it!” she said, nodding. He was glad she was focusing on something besides rubbing against him—though to be honest, he hadn’t minded that much—he just worried that things might go too far.

He put Abbey on her feet. She shimmied out of her panties and then Solon took her arm and walked her into the shower unit. The pink frosted glass door slid shut, enclosing them, and the voice spoke again.

“Please specify water temperature. You can say ‘hot,’ ‘medium,’ ‘cold,’ or tell me a specific temperature in Gokin degrees.”

Since Solon didn’t know that unit of measurement, he decided it would be safest to just say, “Medium heat please.”

Immediately thin streams of lukewarm water began raining down on them from above.

“Brr—this is too cold!” Abbey protested, wrapping her arms around herself. “Can’t we make it hotter?”

“Heat increased,” the shower’s voice said, clearly responding to her complaint. At once the water temperature rose about ten degrees. It was now a bit warm for Solon, but Abbey seemed to enjoy it so he decided he could manage.

“Ready for head to foot scrubbing,” the voice informed them. “Please hold still so that the sensor arms can reach you with no difficulty.”

Before Solon could protest, four large metal arms came down from the ceiling. At the end of the arms were large pink sponges, as big as his head, which were already dripping sweet-smelling foam.

Two of the arms attended to Solon and two began to wash Abbey, who was extremely surprised when they started.

“Oh, what in the world?” she exclaimed as the huge sponges began scrubbing her all over.

“It’s just the shower washing us,” Solon told her quickly. “Don’t worry—just hold still. I’m sure it won’t hurt us.”

Abbey nodded and even raised her arms so that the sponges could clean everywhere. Solon did the same, hoping that the foamy soap dripping from the sponges wouldn’t dry out his fur too much. He usually used an all-over shampoo which had natural conditioners in it when he washed himself.

The cleansing arms were extremely thorough—they scrubbed both him and Abbey from head to toe before retracting back up into the ceiling. Afterwards, the water rained down even harder, as though making sure to rinse them thoroughly.

“Drying cycle is about to begin,” the soft, asexual voice informed them. “Please be sure all soap is rinsed from your body.”

Solon spent a minute doing exactly that and noticed that Abbey was being sure her long hair was soap-free as well. Then the water stopped as abruptly as it had started.

“I wonder when the—” Abbey began but she was cut off by the gusts of warm wind that suddenly began buffeting them from all directions. “Oh!” she gasped and nearly fell over.

Solon grabbed for her arm and managed to keep her on her feet.

“Careful!” he growled, keeping a firm grip on her.

“I’m trying. This drying cycle is no joke!” she exclaimed. Her long brown hair was rising up into the air and waving like a flag in the warm, forceful winds that were whipping all around them.

Solon had to agree with her. His own fur and his mane were being blown in every direction. He kept hold of Abbey’s arm until the wind stopped as abruptly as it had started.

“Your cleansing is now complete,” the shower’s voice told them. “Thank you for using this full-shower service. We hope to serve you again soon.”

“I guess that’s our cue to leave,” Abbey remarked, looking around, though Solon knew that all she would see was a blur. “Er, how do we get out of here?”

Her question was answered when the pink frosted glass door slid open and they were able to step out into the main fresher again.

“Whew…that was some experience!” Abbey said as they stepped onto the cool marble floor.

“It was a necessity, I’m afraid,” Solon said. He sniffed his arm, but couldn’t tell if the enhanced Bonding Scent had been washed away or not. “Er, can you tell me how I smell?” he asked Abbey. “I mean, am I still wearing the scent the Perfumer made for me?”

“Let me see.” She leaned forward and pressed her nose to his chest. She inhaled deeply and then moved on to his shoulder and then down to his abdomen. Finally she drew back and shook her head. “You still smell amazing to me, but not overwhelming. Whew…for a while there you smelled so good all I could think about was jumping your bones!”

Solon frowned.

“Why would my enhanced Bonding Scent make you want to jump up and down on my skeleton?”

Abbey laughed and then winced.

“I didn’t really want to jump on your bones—it’s just an Earth saying. Hey, why am I so sore?”
