A short time later, the rumble of the old pick-up truck drew closer. Her entire body lit up when she saw him pull in front of her. He hopped out, slamming the door behind him. He was so tall and strong. His work boots were only partially tied, and his dirty-blond hair was disheveled from wearing his cowboy hat. He ran a hand through it as he neared her, and it was the sexiest thing.
“Ready, darlin’?”
She nodded, reaching in the cart for one of the bags.
“You leave that to me.”
Annalise didn’t dare argue. He treated her like a princess. She took a seat in the passenger side as he loaded up the back with the groceries.
When he got back in the driver’s seat, he smelled like burning wood and the great outdoors, a masculine scent she associated with him. He put his right hand over hers, steering the truck with the other. “Now what?”
“Are we still going to the coffee shop?”
“Right. I did promise you that, didn’t I?” He turned and flashed her a smile. Vinny was crazy handsome with piercing blue eyes. When the sun hit his face at just the right angle, she saw the ocean when he looked at her.
“You did.”
His hand moved to her thigh, his fingers dangerously close to her intimate parts. Her entire body tingled in anticipation. “We could make a pit stop before the coffee shop.”
“Where?”
“Maybe one of the back roads, away from prying eyes.”
Her mind immediately went to the gutter, her pussy clenching in deep waves. “For what, Vinny?”
“I haven’t spent much time with you lately. Thought we could have a little one-on-one time.”
She wasn’t even sure how a foursome should work. Was it normal to spend time with each man separately or was it breaking some kind of code? She didn’t want to screw anything up. “Okay…”
He put both hands on the wheel now and steered the truck to the outskirts of town, away from all points of civilization. She watched the view out her window, wondering what he had planned for her. Once they were surrounded by nothing but hay and wheat fields, he turned onto an abandoned driveway, the remnants of an old century barn the only thing around for miles.
As soon as he cut the engine, silence settled in. He leaned closer, the bench seat creaking. “Can I kiss you?”
She wet her lips, then nodded. Would her voice even work right now? The moment felt surprisingly intimate and sexually charged. He ran the backs of his fingers along her cheek before kissing her lips. The kiss grew in intensity quickly, and they shifted closer to each other without breaking contact. She wanted him all over her, wanted him to fuck her like Gabe had. She was so ready, the fear of her first time a recent memory.
He growled, his hand slipping under her blouse.
“I’ve been dreaming of you since before you moved onto the ranch. My beautiful Red.”
She felt herself blush slightly. Her hair had always been a torment for her. She’d been constantly teased in school for her red hair, freckles, and extra pounds. But Vinny liked everything about her. He made her feel beautiful for the first time in her life.
Vinny ran his thumb over her nipple in slow circles.
“That feels so good,” she whispered.
He took her hand, placing it over his jeans at his crotch. His erection felt like lead, and she salivated just thinking about all the wicked things they could do together.
“That’s what you do to me, Red.”
She loved the fact she could arouse him. Yet her insecurities kept nagging her deeper thoughts. Why couldn’t she just accept this happiness without expecting it all to implode?
“Vinny?”
“What is it, baby?” He kissed down her neck.
She tried not to become lost in the heat of the moment. “Have you shared many women with Gabe and Archie?”
“None.”
He kept kissing and leaning into her.
“How do I know this will last?”
She bit the inside of her lip after speaking. The last thing she wanted to do was sabotage their brand-new relationship. But she desperately craved reassurance. Stability. A place where she was loved unconditionally. This time, he pulled away, his eyes narrowed. “Where is this coming from?”
“I’ve only known the three of you a short time. I don’t want to be the flavor of the month.”
He let out a puff of breath, a sound between being shocked and insulted at once. “Annalise, we don’t do anything lightly. We’re all in. If we say we love you, we play for keeps. You belong to us. Now. Forever. We may have made a lot of mistakes, but one thing we are is loyal.”
She nodded.
“Does that scare you?” he asked.
“No, it’s exactly what I needed to hear.” She tugged him closer and kissed him deeply, all her pent-up nerves turning sexual.
Vinny pulled himself away, opening the truck door and slipping out. “Come here.”
