Before she could take a step, Remy had swept her up and put her over his thigh. He had his foot up on one of the shelves so she was dangling in the air.

He grabbed hold of the bottom of her pinafore and drew it up. Then he tugged down her tights and panties.

“Daddy, no!” She tried to reach back to stop him, but he just gathered up her hands and held them in the small of her back.

Then he started to spank her.

And it was hard! And mean! Not to mention they were in a store.

Sure, there was no one else here but that didn’t mean that someone couldn’t walk in.

“Daddy, stop!” she cried, tears dripping down her face. “Daddy!”

He spanked her several more times before tipping her back onto her feet. She reached back for her bottom. Okay, it wasn’t a really long or hard spanking.

But he’d still managed to make an impression.

She couldn’t believe that he’d bared her ass in a store. And spanked it.

So. Mean.

He gathered her up against his chest with an arm under her bottom.

And he rocked her back and forth, hushing her gently.

That was rather nice.

Maybe she’d forgive him.

If he bought her the octopus.

Her boss was trying to kill her.

Or make her quit with the way he kept watching her.

She really wasn’t sure which.

Isa’s head was thumping as she packed up for the night. It was two hours past the time she’d been hoping to leave.

Loki was going to kill her.

Remy might too.

Shoot. That reminded her.

Before he’d left their house on Sunday evening, Remy had created a family group chat. It was . . . it was really kind of sweet. She might have teared up a bit, which sent Loki into a spin.

And she’d had to quickly explain that she was happy.

She’d never had a family chat group before.

Sometimes, it was the little things that got to her.

Anyway, her new rule was that she was to text them before leaving work at night and when she got home . . . that last bit was mainly for Remy since he didn’t live with them.

She was starting to hate that he didn’t live with them.

It was only Tuesday and she missed him like crazy.

Sure, she’d see him at quiz night on Thursday and then they had a date set for Saturday. He was taking her out to Sanctuary Ranch to ride the horses.

She could not wait for that.

But still . . . she wanted to see him every day.

Isa: Just leaving work now.

Loki: I was just about to text.

Remy: Now? Why are you only leaving now? Did something come up?

Isa: Just had some extra jobs to do.

Remy: Are you going in late tomorrow?

Isa: I’ll see.

Loki: That means no.

Remy: That doesn’t make me happy. Drive safe, baby girl. Text me when you’re home. Loki, you have dinner for her?

Loki: Ready and waiting.

Warmth filled her at the way they took care of her. What would she do without them?

She never wanted to find out.

Walking out to the car felt like it took forever. She wished she wasn’t so tired. She reached for her keys to unlock her car . . . yes, Loki was always telling her to get them out before she left the building.

But did she ever remember?

Not really.

Then she realized that the driver’s door was slightly ajar.

Had she left it that way?

Shoot. She was an idiot. She thought she’d locked it but she mustn’t have.

Climbing in, she buckled up her seatbelt, then pressed the start button.

Nothing.

She tried again.

Still nothing.

Tears filled her eyes. Shoot.

Crying won’t help, Isa.

It had taken so much for her to drive here today and yesterday. Loki had wanted to keep driving her, but she’d known she had to do it. So Sunday evening after they’d gotten home from Aunt Marie’s, Remy had gone with her while she’d driven past the place she’d run off the road.

They’d done it several times until she felt more comfortable.

But now she was wishing she’d let Loki keep driving her.

A knock on the window made her jump and scream. She glanced up to find Shawn staring down at her.

“Everything all right?”

Great. Just what she needed. She opened her door.

“Dead battery.”

“I’ve got jumper cables. I can jump start you.”

“Really? Oh, that would be great.”

This was the kindest thing he’d ever done. He ran off, got his car and then set everything up.

Huh, she hadn’t thought Shawn was the type of guy who’d be this helpful.

When her car was going, he disconnected everything and walked back over to her.

“Thanks, Shawn, I appreciate it.” She shut her door and opened the window.

He stared down at her. Right into her boobs. She gritted her teeth. This. Guy.

Couldn’t even do a nice thing without staring at her.

“No worries. Now you owe me, huh?” he replied.

“Um, yeah. Sure. Bye.”

She reversed out of her parking space without looking at him again.
