Gray glanced down at her. “What is it?”

“Huh, Daddy?”

He narrowed his gaze at her. Uh-oh. “Little girl, gonna give you one chance to tell me what’s wrong. And before you answer with nothing, remember what I said about telling me what you need.”

Oh. Right.

“Also, I’m sure you don’t want another spanking.”

No, siree, she did not.

“I was just hoping to play on the swing and slide and stuff. But it’s not a big deal, I know we’re in a hurry.”

“Fuck, forgot about the playground.”

“I mean, maybe I don’t deserve to go.” She scratched at her cheek.

Reaching out, he took hold of her hand, lowering it. “Of course you deserve to play. Why would you say otherwise?”

“Because I was naughty earlier.”

He cupped her chin. “And you were already punished.” He turned her to the playground. “You have ten minutes.”

She rushed over to the swing, hopping on and wincing as her bottom protested. She shifted so her butt was over the edge. There, that was better.

“Push me, Daddy! Please!”

“Should you be on the big girl swing?” he asked, eyeing the baby swing next to it.

Like the swing she was on, it was oversized to fit an adult Little. But it was more like a seat with a piece that came down and attached between a person’s legs so they didn’t fall out.

“Nuh-uh, Daddy. I’m not a baby.”

“All right then.” He came over and gave her a few big pushes before stepping back to do something on his phone. She moved her body and legs to keep herself going, but it wasn’t the same.

“Daddy! Daddy! Push me again, please?”

He glanced up at her.

“Please, Daddy! You’re the best swing pusher in the world!” She flung her arms out, letting go of the chains holding up the swing. Suddenly, she wobbled, nearly toppling backward out of the swing. She managed to grab hold of the chains at the last minute.

“Little girl!” he snapped. “You almost fell off.”

“It was only because I stopped holding on, Daddy. I’m fine. No need to get all panicky, silly-billy.”

He gave her a stern look. “I knew I should have put you in the baby one.”

“Daddy, no,” she complained.

He crossed his arms over his chest. “It’s the baby swing or no swing at all.”

“Okay, then, Daddy! I guess the baby swing might be fun.” She got off and raced over to the baby swing, turning around and trying to jump up onto it. It was higher than the other swing.

“Little girl, Daddy has to lift you in.”

He picked her up under the arms and set her in before securing the middle bar.

“Daddy, you’re so strong. And handsome. Have I told you that today?”

“I don’t think so.”

“Naughty Maeve,” she scolded herself. “Daddy, you’re the most handsome, strong, kind Daddy in the world.”

“Uh-huh.”

“I ought to get you a certificate saying that. I’ll try to remember. Push, Daddy?”

He lightly pushed the swing.

“Higher, Daddy! Higher!

A big push had her squealing in delight. But this seat wasn’t as comfortable for a newly punished butt, so it wasn’t long until she wanted off.

“Daddy, off! Please!”

He undid her seat and lifted her out. She raced off to the slide.

“Be careful,” he warned. “That’s quite high.”

“Don’t worry, Daddy. I’m really good at the slide.”

“Are you?”

“Uh-huh. I like to go to the top and think about stuff. But not today. We’re too busy.”

She slid down with a squeal. To her surprise, he moved to the bottom to catch her.

It was totally sweet if completely unnecessary.

Next, she raced over to the merry-go-round.

“Stop running, you’ll hurt yourself,” he grumbled.

Poor Grumpy Bear, he was so protective. She pushed the merry-go-round, spinning with a laugh. She spun and spun until she thought she might be sick. When she got off, she stumbled around.

Gray quickly grabbed her. “Little girl, you made yourself dizzy.”

“Just a bit, Daddy. Can I go again?” she asked once the world stopped spinning. “That was so much fun!”

“Absolutely not.”

“But, Daddy—”

“No. And no pouting.”

“I don’t pout.”

He tapped her bottom lip, which was poking out. Drat. Silly thing had a mind of its own.

“Come, you need to go potty and then we’ll go to the play area before we leave.”

“Daddy, it’s a bathroom or toilet. Not a potty.”

He looked unimpressed at her correcting him.

“And I don’t have to go.”

“Don’t you?”

She took a second to take stock. Drat.

“All right. I do have to go. How do you know these things? Are you some sort of wizard like Immy said?”

“No, I’m just a Daddy who knows his girl well.”

“Huh. Okay, I mean, it’s not as exciting as being a wizard, but I suppose it’s still a super power of sorts.” She made her voice go all stern and deep. “I’m Daddy Grumpy Bear and I have the power of knowing when my Little girl has to pee. Yeah, it’s not flying or invisibility.”

Gray stopped by a door that had a picture of a little girl pressing her legs together. “Was that meant to be me?”
