“You have feelings for my husband,” I gasp, turning back to my sister, ready to slap her for some illogical reason that I can’t pinpoint.

“Amore, you jealous?” That is most definitely not the reason.

I storm up to him, getting in his face to hide my sister from his view; she’s too young for him to be ogling, even though his eyes are completely on me. “You’re a lying piece of shit. I want a divorce.”

He grabs my hair, fisting it firmly, tugging my head up and staring me down. “Not going to happen, May Belle Conti. You’re my wife until the day we’re both put into the ground.” His mouth crushes mine in a deep kiss that almost makes me forget that I’m mad at him, but I break away.

“I hate you.”

He growls and then releases my hair. I think I finally made my point, but then he says, “I let you see your sister. Now that you know she’s safe, it’s time to go home.” He flips me over his shoulder and storms out of the front door. June starts to protest, but she’s silenced by her man who just came out of nowhere with a kiss.

“Damn traitor.”

“No, she just knows what’s good for you.” He slaps my ass while carrying me outside. We get into the car. “Luca, take us back.”

“You couldn’t even drive yourself here.”

“I was drinking, wife. I don’t take your safety so lightly.” He buckles me up, and then before I know it, we’re driving out of the compound.

“Oh…”

“Where are we going?”

“We’re going on our honeymoon.”

“Why?”

“Because that’s what we should have done the second we were married.”

“We shouldn’t have gotten married.”

“Don’t fucking say that bullshit. You’re mine, and I’m your husband, so fucking deal with it.”

“I don’t want to be married to you.”

“Yes, well, I don’t want your attitude. I want you fucking naked, sucking my cock with that juicy ass up in the air before I fuck that tight little hole, breeding it with all my hot cum. Now, we don’t all get what we want, do we?”

“Is sex all you think about?”

“When it comes to you, that’s a big part of my brain.”

“What else do you think about?”

“Keeping you safe and happy,” he says.

“I’d be happier to stay here with my sister.”

“You will get to stay with your sister all the time. She’s going to be living on the estate as well.”

“What? Until you don’t need your guy who works for you?”

“First, it doesn't quite work like that. Secondly, Alessio happens to be my cousin, so he’s good and he owns the property.”

“You’re cousins?”

“Yes.”

“So June has a crush on you?”

“No, she doesn’t, but my cousin thought she did and I wanted to gauge your reaction. For someone who doesn’t like me and wants to leave me, you sure as fuck are upset just thinking your sister might want me.”

“You don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“I know that I’m fucking crazy about you. I know that I’ve effortlessly killed two men in the past week who dared to harm you, and I’m tempted to finish off a third because you dated the piece of shit. I want to rip his fucking heart out, amore. The fact that he never had you is the only thing keeping that asshole alive.”

My mouth falls open, thinking about who he killed in my honor. I know about my boss, and I can’t feel sorry about that given that he planned on violating me if Dario hadn’t shown up, and he was probably going to die at Dario’s hands for another reason anyway, but who else was he talking about?

We make it to the airport then it dawns on me…my landlord.

“Johnson?”

“Yes.”

“Because he flirted with me?” Luca opens the door, but I don’t move because I want answers.

He rolls his eyes and growls, “No. If that was the case, there would be dead men up and down the streets. You’re beautiful. Although now that you’re married, any fool that tries that shit will be playing with his life.”

“So why?”

“Just wait until we’re on the plane, and I’ll tell you the rest.”

“Okay.” The second we’re seated on the private jet, I harass him for the details.

“Besides your living conditions…let’s just say you were not the only woman on his radar, and harassing you verbally wasn’t the only thing he did.”

“What did he do?”

“He had photos of you and other women stored in his apartment. Images he didn’t get with permission.”

“Oh my God. Are you suggesting that…” I press my hand to my mouth, wishing I hadn’t asked.

“Yes. There are cameras in your bathroom, but since he’s dead, you don’t have to worry anymore.”

“What if he was working with someone?”

“He was, and it was your boss.”

“Fuck, I was surrounded by bastards.” I pause and think about it. That’s how I found the job at the diner. There was a flyer for a job offer and I went to go check it out, landing it on the spot.
