He’d fed her to the rats. Veronica had been terrified of rats…so rats, she’d gotten.

The next picture was of Gary Lacasse, and the young man looked serious and studious in his high school graduation picture. Gary had been like a member of his own family, yet he’d turned his back on them because of the fucking whore, Veronica. Gary, when he’d told his lies, had crushed Joshua’s heart…so he’d crushed Gary.

See, there was a method to his so-called madness. Revenge was sweetest when served with a side of mental torture. Oh, how his family had been mentally tortured. He’d tried so hard to hold everything together, to fight the lies being told about them but, in the end, it hadn’t been enough. He hadn’t been able to protect the ones he loved.

He’d failed them.

Now, he would avenge them.

The third picture on the wall was of Jason Waylon. Quite possibly the one he hated the most. Well, maybe not Jason as much as he hated Jason’s family. They’d been friends once, ran in the same circle of wealth and privilege. At one time, not that long ago, there had been a standing golf date between himself and Jackson Waylon every second and fourth Saturday of the month. The son was weak; the man hadn’t been surprised when Jason caved beneath the pressure Veronica and Gary placed on him. Jason had never been taught to be a real man. Jackson had surprised him, though. He’d thought Jackson would support him. He’d been wrong. The father was as cowardly as the son. Yes, he’d believed the death he’d planned for Jason had been most fitting…for his pathetically weak body to be hidden right beneath his father’s nose. Jackson would have searched everywhere…except there.

Well, things hadn’t worked out as planned. He wasn’t sure why, but knew he would find out soon enough. He’d come back to Jason when the time was right. Given enough time, he would be capable of concocting another fitting death for Jason Waylon, and he had plenty of time.

The others on the wall? Their time was swiftly running out.

He looked at the next face. He hadn’t known this girl. Her name was Kris Tatum and, while she wasn’t the whore that Veronica was, she’d still lied. She could have told the truth but chose not to. He’d warned her, told her what a mistake she was making by spreading her lies, but she’d chosen to ignore him. It wasn’t safe to ignore warnings, was it? When the flashing red lights tell you danger is ahead, you should stop. Kris didn’t stop.

But she was about to.

Chapter Four

Remi lay in his king-sized bed, his legs entwined with Ryder’s, one of his arms thrown across the man’s abs, and his head rested on his chest. The bed was plenty big that they could have easily shared it and never touched. Perhaps that was even what Ryder had in mind when he’d climbed into Remi’s bed earlier, but Remi had an entirely different image floating in his head. He’d wanted Ryder Livingston since the first time he’d seen him…since the first - and so far the only - time he’d been in the other man’s bed. Sure, he knew Ryder looked at him as an immature, spoiled, rich kid, but Remi was determined to prove him wrong. He was determined to be granted another chance with Ryder. The excuse he’d used about not ever dating any of Cassie’s friends or roommates wasn’t going to fly any longer. Remi was tired of Ryder’s rules, especially because they only seemed to benefit Ryder.

It was if he’d always known an opportunity to put them together would present itself again…and now it had. Make no doubt about it, he wasn’t at all pleased with the circumstances that had thrown them into the same bed, but he’d be a fool to not take advantage of it. Remington Newsome was no fool. This might be the last chance he might ever have to seduce Ryder, so he was determined that his seduction be one hundred percent top shelf.

One problem—he wasn’t schooled in the art of seduction. He’d had sex with exactly three men in his life—two of them inept and the other one was Ryder. From the way things had ended with Ryder, he realized he must not be that good of a lay. The man had walked away without as much as a glance over his shoulder. Sure, Ryder was always polite and courteous when he visited Cassie’s house, but polite and courteous Ryder wasn’t the personality Remi was interested in.

“Are you awake?” Ryder asked, causing Remi to jerk in surprise.

He hadn’t known Ryder was awake. Should he act like he was asleep to help explain away why he was hugging on to him like a monkey on a tree? Lying didn’t seem like a good way to start but admitting the truth…admitting how badly he wanted Ryder to fuck him didn’t seem like it would be an easy admission. He’d already gone down that path, humiliating himself in the process. If he hadn’t been good enough for Ryder three years ago, why did he think things might be different now?
