“Hey,” I say casually. “How you holding up?”

She growls from somewhere deep in her belly, and my jaw clenches. This woman is beautiful, but she’s bitchy. Entitled. And that fucking dog.

“How am I? How am I? I’ll tell you how I am, Dix! I am locked inside my own damn house, unable to go anywhere without a fucking biker following me around, and it’s all your fault!”

I smile at her and slide my thumbs into my belt loops. “I think the words you’re looking for are ‘thank you,’ sweetheart.”

“Thank you?” She laughs and shakes her head. “For what, exactly?”

“Well,” I shrug and hold a hand out for her little dog to sniff me and then like the little shit he is, he growls. “If my guys hadn’t rescued you, you’d be handcuffed to a bed somewhere, being ass fucked and tortured by some really bad guys all at once until you beg someone to put a bullet in you.”

She gasps and covers her mouth at my harsh words. For a brief moment, I regret them, but Aria is spoiled, and she needs to hear the truth.

But she just snaps, “You’re an animal.”

I shake my head. “If you think that, you should be extra grateful that we rescued you. All I did was piss you off. Imagine with LTC would have done if we hadn’t saved you.”

Tears well in her eyes, and now I do feel like an asshole, even if it is a justified asshole. I just want to be away from here and back with Valentina, but that’s not Aria’s fault.

“Look, Aria, I’m sorry, but we did step in to help you. Lucky is just trying to keep you safe until your father gets back to town.”

“Bullshit,” she shouts. “Daddy does business with Los Tres Colombianos. They would never cross him.”

Maybe. “Then why did they beat the fuck out of me and kidnap you?” Confusion colors her face, and I can tell she hasn’t thought it all the way through, which is a good thing.

“Right now, even though you hate me and my men, we’re allies. No matter how bitchy you are, we’ll keep you safe. So maybe you could be a little less bitchy, at least toward Lucky. He's a great guy.”

“Fine,” she growls. “When you leave, tell him that lunch is in an hour. He can eat inside.”

“How good of you,” I say sarcastically.

“I’m trying, Dix. Don’t be an asshole about it.”

Her pissy little dog barks and growls at me again, like he’s trying to protect her.

I snap my fingers, and the fucker stops yapping immediately. “Nothing some proper training won’t fix.”

“Coco is perfect the way she is.”

“He,” I tell her. “Coco has a dick, Aria.”

She covers his ears and holds him close. “She can hear you.”

I laugh and shake my head. “Just take it easy on Lucky, will ya?”

She nods.

“All right. See you soon.” I give the little dog a wave. “Bye, Coco.”

On my way back to my bike, I relay Aria’s message to Lucky and hop on my bike. But I don’t take off until I reach out to Valentina on her burner.

“I thought you might not call.”

“Never,” I growl.

“Good,” she purrs. “Because I need you, Jake. I need you now.”

We make plans to meet at a secluded bar and my cock stirs just thinking about what the next hour or two will bring.

My bike roars to life and images of Valentina flash in my mind until I arrive at the out-of-the-way bar. I stride in, thinking about how and where I’d fuck the cartel princess for the rest of the day.

CHAPTER SIX

Valentina

Jake saunters into the bar like a big game cat. Eyes scanning the crowd, all while looking as relaxed as possible. Big, but graceful and ready to strike at any moment. As he exudes an air of confidence, I can’t help but be drawn to the bad-boy vibe he gives off—the epitome of my wildest dreams. “Jake.”

His hazel eyes stare intently for a moment before his lips split into a smile. “Damn, Valentina, you look hot as fuck.” His eyes rake over my entire body with appreciation.

I squirm under his gaze, feeling the heat rise within me, my body responding to his intense stare. The flirty green dress I’m wearing shows off my arms, shoulders, and curves, and I sit a little taller and smile. “Right back at you, Jake.”

His lips curl into a grin, and he takes the seat across from me and says, “You know you’re like a fish out of water in this joint.”

He scans the dimly lit, half-empty bar, taking in the dozen or so disinterested day drinkers with their eyes glued to the television, a few guys huddled around a video poker machine, and the clacking of pool balls echoing from a distant corner. “Unlike them, I dressed to impress.” My voice comes out in a sexy purr that’s entirely unintentional, but this man makes me feel sexy all the time.
