“Don’t,” he growled. “Don’t borrow trouble. We’ll know after we get to the hospital and the doc checks you out. No way to check her now.”

“I’m scared, Atlas. I don’t want to lose the baby.” Tears streamed down her face.

“Honey, I lost you.” Atlas sounded gutted. “If we lose this child it will be horrible, but I can’t lose you. I’ll follow you if I do.”

“Help’s on the way,” Wylde called.

“Eagle, how’s Rose?” Stitches was working with Serelda who appeared to be unconscious.”

“Awake and alert,” I called back.

“Come to me. Bring my bag.”

“Keep an eye on her, Atlas,” I said, giving my brother a hard look. “Anything changes, even the slightest bit, you call out.” Atlas nodded. I grabbed the jump pack and headed to Stitches.

Serelda was limp in Brick’s arms. One side of her face was covered in blood and dirt with gravel embedded in the skin of her face and arms. Brick was stoic, but there was a tic in his jaw.

“Stitches…” His voice was gruff, belying his calm demeanor. “Help her.”

“She’s not dead, Brick. That’s all I can tell you at a glance.” Stitches was brisk, snapping when he normally would be trying to soothe. He glanced up at Brick. “When she goes to the hospital, I’ll stay with her and the other women. You get with Sting and the others and find this motherfucker. You find him tonight.”

“I’m not leaving my woman, Stitches.”

“You are. All of you are. And you’re gonna force the issue with the others. I’ll take care of the women. It’s what I do. You hunt this fucker and bring him to the barn. Then we’ll all take him the fuck apart.”

I could tell Brick was torn. He didn’t want to leave Serelda to face her injuries without him, but he wanted this kill. Badly.

Nyla knelt beside Serelda and Brick. Tears streamed down her face unchecked. “Will she be all right?”

“Won’t know until we get her to the hospital.” Stitches continued to run his hands over Serelda, looking for more injuries. He cut off her clothing down to her underwear. There was a huge bruise in the middle of her chest and abdomen.

“Did you check on Iris?” Stitches didn’t look up as he demanded the answer from Nyla.

“Yes. She was knocked out, but she’s talking now. Answering questions appropriately. Bit confused and asking the same questions over and over.”

Stitches just grunted. “I’ll check on her next.”

When Serelda moaned and her eyes fluttered open, Nyla let out a strangled sob. “Oh, thank God!”

“Hey, beautiful girl,” Brick said, stroking Serelda’s cheek gently with his thumb. “Look at me, sweetheart.”

Serelda groaned in pain. “What the fuck happened?”

“We were attacked, baby,” Brick said gently. “You’re hurt.”

“No shit.” She pushed up to a sitting position, wincing as she did. “Where’s Winter?”

“She’s making sure the kids are all accounted for,” Nyla answered. “She’s fine. A little scraped and battered, but she’s good.”

“Iris? Rose?”

“You and Rose seemed to be hurt the worst,” Stitches said. “Headed to check on Iris next, then I’m getting you all to the hospital.”

Serelda’s gaze darted around, probably looking for her sister. Then her gaze landed on me. “You make sure Brick and Sting hunt this fucker down, Eagle.”

“Serelda --”

“No, Brick! I’m fine. And if I’m not, there’s nothing you can do. What you can do is get after this guy.” When he still didn’t look convinced, Serelda shoved at his chest. “Go!”

“Fuck!” Brick curled his hand around Serelda’s nape, leaning in to kiss his woman before putting his forehead to hers. “You better be all right or I’m gonna spank your sweet ass.”

“I will be, and you can spank me anyway. Now go.”

Brick met my gaze. “No mercy,” he commanded. “We find this fuck, take him alive, and he pays. Slowly.”

I nodded, my anger spiking. Someone had attacked the compound right under our noses. In our lair. As much as I needed to keep my distance, to find some inner peace so I could work on earning Nyla’s trust, I had to take this up. Someone had to take the lead and since Sting, Brick, and Roman were too close, it had to be me.

Nyla looked up at me, her eyes wide. “I’m coming with you.”

“Out of the question.”

“You know this has to be Milo’s doing. He’s coming for me, Eagle. I’m not going to sit around and wait for him to make a play for me again, and I’m definitely not going to put anyone else in danger. If you won’t let me come with you, I have to leave.”

“Like fuck!” I grabbed her by the arm and dragged her toward the clubhouse. Nyla dug her heels in, pulling against me. Stopping, I turned and scooped her up over my shoulder and marched inside with her. I took her straight to my room before dropping her to her feet. “You’ll stay here until I get back, girl.”
