“I’m sorry about your parents, Sebastian. I can’t believe your own brother would side with them over his own parents.”

“It was a greed thing. He wanted what was given to me as the firstborn and the more responsible son. He had a chance to have the world at his feet when we were growing up, but he managed to fuck it up every chance he got, so my father told him that he would never have a part of the family business and that everything he received would be at his discretion.”

“He didn’t like that, so he turned to your father’s enemies?”

“Yes, and Carlino couldn’t wait to destroy this family.”

“Well, I have to say it backfired on him.” She rubs her hand over her almost completely flat stomach, reminding me of our little one growing inside.

“Yes, you’re right. His gorgeous daughter is creating my new family.” I’m thrilled to be a father soon.

“Yeah. You have your own little revenge, in a way.”

“I suppose I do.” And that’s not all because I’m going to destroy him every single way I can. Although I don’t want her to freak out about it, so I’ll keep hush for now.

As if she can read my thoughts, she presses her hand to my chest and says, “Relax. You don’t have to keep your evil thoughts to yourself. I know you’re going to seek revenge too. I’m not stupid, and as long as you come back home to me, then do what you must.”

“Heaven help me. You are perfect.” I cup her face and kiss her hard as fuck.

“Now, do we have time to finish what we started?”

“Yes, we do,” I growl, pinning her to the mattress and making her come until we have to get ready.

"Who are you?" Candy asks, eyes on the woman who came after me. "You know what, it doesn't matter because you're irrelevant and will cease to exist in mere moments. You fucked up when you put yourself in my path. Coming near my man is a death sentence."

"You're a weak woman. He'll leave you for the next piece of ass. They all do,” she spits out, trying to sound tough, but it only causes Candy to laugh. She knows damn well I’d chase her to the ends of the Earth if she tried to leave me again. She’s all I need.

Picking up one of the blades off the surgical tool table, Candy tests it in her hand. We’d practiced the weapons earlier, so she wouldn’t slide her hands up, and my girl is a natural. "And yet you willingly risked your life for one,” she scoffs, shaking her head at her trapped target.

"He's the true head of the family,” she insists. Her loyalty to my brother is not only pathetic but also futile. Cesar looks on and shakes his head. My brother is but a memory now.

"Honey, there ain't no insanity plea here. That shit doesn't fly." With a quickness I've only seen in the best, Candy swings her blade in one smooth motion, slicing across her face.

Candy does it again this time; she goes for the throat, sending spray everywhere.

She's sexy as blood drips off her body. I've never seen something so fucking arousing than my woman protecting her family. Like a lioness, she struck her prey hard and fast, slicing away at the woman who had the nerve to come at me.

Epilogue

Sebastian

One year later…

Her body shakes as we wait for the judge to read the verdict. Her father hadn’t met his fate at my hands yet. As fate would have it, he was arrested for extortion and attempted murder of a government official the day after I married Candy.

None of his crimes had anything to do with us, but we were still there to watch the events unfold. Several times we received looks from his wife, who noticed the similarities between her children and Candy. It’s insane how much they resemble each other. Of course, they were not exactly alike because my wife had a special beauty that her sons could never possess, but she was clearly Carlino’s daughter.

Just yesterday, the truth fell out.

The older woman with gray and black hair approached us with Carlino’s oldest son. Her voice was soft yet firm when she tapped my shoulder. We turned, and my guards remained close as I held my wife tightly to my side. Although she grabbed my attention, she was directing her question and gaze to Candy. “Excuse me, but I need to ask you how you know my husband. You’ve been at his trial twice, and I can’t explain how much you look like our daughter who died when she was sixteen.”

“Um…” Her eyes downcast a bit, nervously. I bring her hand to my mouth and kiss it.

“Don’t worry, you’re not going to upset me. I know my husband is a piece of shit.” She nearly spat the words out.
