I get off his lap, unashamed that my dick is sticking out. “It’s a hot day. Wanna undress?” I ask and make a show of taking off my T-shirt. I want to see all of him in the daylight.

Road bites his lip, watching me, but he’s already untying his shoes. “We could swim too. Assume there’s not a soul for miles?”

“It’s a dead zone around here, which is why I love it.” I take my own boots off and kick them to the side, impatient to see more of his skin. Just his presence, the smell of our sex in the air, puts me in a good mood. My jeans come off next, and I’m naked as God made me. Torn between waiting on him and teasing him, I end up turning around and walking out so he can get a good look.

When he whistles, I know he’s watching, so I stall in the doorway, leaning against it, letting him see my tattooed back, my firm thighs, and round ass. I’d do myself, so why wouldn’t he?

Creak of wood. Rustle of fabric.

He’s shedding his clothes too, but I’m excited by the idea of making him chase me, so I leave, stepping onto the sandy ground woven with grass and dry pine needles. The sun’s reaching me through the gaps in the leafy canopy above, but while I’ve skinny-dipped here before, it feels different this time. For once, I haven’t come alone, and anticipation’s coiling inside me like a hungry snake.

I stepped into that shack a different man than the one I walked out as. I can still taste Road and I smile to myself at the thought of sucking him again. I’m not ready to think about tomorrow, but this is good. Very good.

“Grab some blankets, I’ll cook outside,” I say, turning around to catch him mid-stride, and I immediately regret it, because I don’t want him disappearing from my sight.

Road somehow appears even taller when naked. The scars left by our shared ordeal are still very much visible on his body. Burns. Thick scars left by the surgeries that saved his life, but underneath it all, he’s still the same man to who I told my greatest secret, back when we both thought death was imminent. Just as proficient and deadly. I’m sure he must have lost some muscle during his recovery, but he’s now back to his usual. In fact, his biceps might be a bit thicker than before. His chest is a perfect pillow for my head, dusted with a dark lawn that also covers his forearms, stomach, and parts of his thighs.

A beautiful animal.

“You cook?” Road asks, emerging from the shed with a box containing blankets and pillows. Sadly, it’s so big, it covers his crotch.

“My dad taught me the basics, we often went camping with my brother,” I say, only seconds later realizing that the topic of my family shouldn’t be discussed with him.

Road chooses to remain silent and focuses on spreading two blankets on the sparse grass close to the charred remains of the campfire I made last time. I dash back to the shed and return with dry wood and a pan, trying to fight the nervous energy overcoming my body.

My throat is ever tighter, because now I’m wondering if he knows who killed my older brother, but before I can spiral, Road speaks. “I… never really learned.”

At least it takes my mind off the frustrating situation. His nakedness helps too. Not just because he’s so hot I wanna gnaw on his calf, but it feels so natural for both of us to be bare in nature.

I raise an eyebrow at him as I arrange the wood under the basic metal griddle and light it. “Why? It’s a basic life skill.” Knowing I’d want to eat, whether with him or on my own, I brought the cooler bag with bacon and a few other ingredients.

Road sits cross-legged, and I try to focus on starting the fire instead of studying every detail of his cock and balls.

“I lived with my folks until I was fourteen. Then, there was a time when I had no access to a kitchen, so I bought all my food ready. And then, I settled in a place that has a canteen feeding everyone for cheap. There was never any need for me to cook.”

I’m surprised by how little I really know about him, and how greedy I am for every scrap of information. “At least you didn’t say it’s a ‘woman’s job’ because you sure as fuck wouldn’t be getting any of this bacon then,” I say as I present a long strip of beautiful meat.

Road snorts, letting his head fall back, lazily facing the sun. “Everyone knows grilling is a man’s job.”

“But you can’t even grill,” I tease as I place the bacon in the griddle to the accompaniment of a beautiful sizzle. “What does that say about you?” I don’t give a shit, but this is… fun. I’m rarely so unguarded, even among men I consider brothers. Maybe because I can’t be my true self around them. Road embraces the part of me which would earn me a punch in the face in any other company.
