He tugs my dress down in the front, exposing one naked breast, and wraps his lips around the nipple, sucking hard.

Oh, my God.

My head falls back, my center grinds down harder on him, and with his mouth tight on that sensitive bud, I feel something massive and marvelous move through me.

I cry out and shudder, and everything in me tightens.

I do believe I’ve just had my first orgasm.

Liam kisses my chest, my neck, and when he feels me start to loosen up, he pulls me down into his arms.

“Are you okay?” he asks.

“I don’t know that I’ve ever been better,” I confess. “Liam, I think I—”

“You did.” His voice is confident, and he sounds quite pleased with himself. “You had one kind, anyway.”

“There are different kinds?”

He laughs and kisses my forehead. “A few that I know of. Congratulations, sweetheart.”

“This was a bloody good idea.”

He laughs again, and I enjoy the sound of it. He doesn’t laugh often enough.

“Agreed.”

“I’m still not convinced that this is the time or place. Couldn’t you make your own coffee at home?” Liam asks as he parks his car in front of Drips & Sips.

“My coffee isn’t as good,” I reply. “Liam, it’s two o’clock on a Wednesday. I don’t think the place is going to be packed to the gills with people just waiting to get a peek at me, should I happen to be in town.”

“You don’t know that.”

I roll my eyes and move to get out of the car, but he stops me with a hand on my arm. “Wait. I’ll come around.”

I do as I’m told, and Liam and I walk into the coffee shop together. It smells delicious. I love that it’s also a gift shop, and take a moment to admire the array of fun things that Aspen has for sale.

I’ll have to remember to come back and gather some gifts for my family before I return back to London.

“Well, this is a fun surprise.”

I look over at the sound of Aspen’s voice and offer her a friendly smile. “I thought it would be fun to drop in and see how you are. I hope that’s okay.”

“You’re welcome here anytime, Ellie. I’m glad you came. Can I make you something?”

“A chai latte would be lovely.”

I follow Aspen to the counter and watch as she fusses with my drink. “Have you had a busy day?”

“Every morning is busy, and thank goodness for it,” she says with a wink. “But afternoons usually slow down a bit. We close at four, so this is the perfect time to stop by.”

“I’ll remember that.” I accept the drink and take a sip. “This is delicious. How much do I owe you?”

“That’s on the house.”

“You don’t have to do that.”

“It’s your first one,” she says, waving me off. “Hopefully, you’ll be back for more.”

“You can count on it.” I glance to my right and smile. “I’m going to go say hello to someone.”

“Enjoy,” Aspen says.

“Did you see that Lauren’s here?” I ask Liam, who’s been quite silent since we arrived.

“Of course, I saw her.”

“You didn’t go and say hello.”

“I’m working with you,” he reminds me as we walk to Lauren’s table.

“Hey, you two,” Lauren says with a smile. “I just finished writing a chapter.”

“I didn’t know you wrote here. Don’t you have an office at your home?” I ask.

“Sure, but sometimes, I need a change of scenery. If I do, I usually come in here. What are you two up to?”

“I talked Liam into bringing me into town for something to drink, and a change of scenery of my own.”

I reach out to put my hand on Liam’s arm, but he backs away from me. I blink rapidly, trying to keep up with my conversation with Lauren.

“Oh, here’s Sam,” Lauren says. “Sam, have you met Princess Eleanor?”

“Can’t say I have.”

I turn to see a tall man with broad shoulders and strawberry blond hair. His smile is friendly as he nods.

“Ellie, this is Sam Waters.”

“It’s nice to meet you.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you, as well. I’ve heard a bit about you from your sister. Monica says you recently joined the fire department?”

“That’s right. Hey, Liam, can I talk to you for a second?”

“Sure.” Liam turns to me, and still without touching me, says, “Stay right here. I’ll be within eyesight.”

The two men walk away to the other side of the coffee shop and immediately delve into conversation.

“Are you okay, Ellie?” Lauren asks.

I’m confused. Hurt. Perhaps disappointed.

But I paste a smile onto my face and nod. “Oh, yes, I’m just fine, thank you.”

Chapter 8

~Liam~

“I haven’t seen you since you moved home, and it’s been a year,” Sam says.

“Time flies fucking fast.” I rub my hand over the back of my neck. “At least I text.”

Despite not living here full time, Sam was always one of my closest friends growing up. We kept in touch when I was back in Washington, and we were practically inseparable when I was in town for the summer.
