“They’re extorting me,” I interject.

“Who is they?”

“Does it matter?” I scoff. “I don’t want the picture they took to be seen by anyone. I didn’t mean for you to see it, but I guess it’s too late for that now.”

“Yeah, I won’t be able to get that filth out of my brain any time soon.”

I frown. “Well, you sound very supportive.”

“I’m sorry, Lana,” he says, sighing. “I mean, what do you expect? I’m seeing my girl completely covered in some other man’s cum. Of course I’m upset. I mean, why didn’t you tell anyone?”

“Who the fuck should I tell about this, huh?” I scoff. “Felix?”

“No. I don’t know.” He runs his fingers through his hair. “All I can think of is those fuckers having their hands on you …” He shakes his head. “I can’t. I can’t fucking deal with this, man.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’m just saying, they must’ve had a reason. And I know how sexy you are and how that might give people the wrong ideas.”

“What?” My jaw drops. “Are you blaming me for this?”

“No, that’s not what I mean. It’s just that … I don’t want people to look at you like this.”

“Neither do I!”

“I don’t know how to deal with this.”

I can’t believe this.

“So you’re just abandoning me?”

“I … I’m sorry, Lana. I don’t … I can’t … ”

He can’t even finish his fucking sentence.

Coward.

“Fine,” I seethe, then turn around and march off.

“I’m sorry!” he yells. “I’ll tell your father we … broke up.”

I turn around only to yell at him. “Can’t break up if you were never my boyfriend!”

I flip him the bird and jump on the bike that I rode here on.

“Hey! How am I supposed to get back home now?” Jason asks, running up to me.

“Fucking figure it out yourself,” I growl, and I rev up the bike. Right as I bolt off, I yell, “And by the way, I faked all of my orgasms!”

The shocked look on his face is a small victory on an otherwise sour night.

But I don’t want to think about him any longer. With no time to waste, I have a bully to meet up with.

LANA

I hop off my bike and march straight toward the Phantom Society building. The two guards outside watch me with keen eyes, but I don’t even grant them one look as I barge toward the entrance.

They broaden their shoulders and lift their arms. “You’re not allowed entry.”

“If you don’t let me through, I will personally cut off your fucking arms.” I hold my knife up for them to see. “With this fucking knife.”

One of them smiles. “I’d love to see you try.”

So I hold up my cell phone and show them the text Nathan sent me where he’s clearly inviting me over for tea before his untimely demise. “Last chance … now are you going to let me enter, or do you want to do this the hard way?”

The one that told me off swallows and lowers his arm but still holds out his hand. “Knife.”

I narrow my eyes at him.

Do I want to go into this starting a fight again?

Or do I want to approach this in a smarter way and beat them at their own game?

I don’t want to risk the chance of Nathan sending that damn photo to anyone.

Grunting, I slam my knife into the fucker’s hand. “Keep it fucking safe. If you so much as move from this spot, I will fucking haunt you into your death.”

He just throws me a glare as I walk to the door and push past the other guy, knocking him off balance. I enter the building and march across the hallway, my heels click-clacking on the marble floor, determined to give Nathan an earful.

I head straight for the chapter room and shove open the doors.

He’s standing there with a bottle of whiskey in one hand and a glass in the other. He looks up at me with a devilish lopsided grin. “Lana … I’m surprised it took you so long.”

“Delete those fucking pictures,” I growl at him. “Every single one of them.”

He casually pours the drink, taking his time. “No, I don’t think I will.”

“Why?” I yell. “We had a deal.”

Clutching the glass tight, he takes a sip. “And now the deal has changed.”

“You can’t just change deals one-sided.” I get right up in his face, but he’s not swayed even a little bit by my rage. “You already took everything I had to give. When is it going to be enough?”

His hand suddenly rises to meet my face, and I freeze when he grabs a strand of my hair, gently tucking it behind my ear. His hand grazes past my cheek, and electricity crackles between us. “I will never have enough of you now.”

My teeth grind together, and I slap him.

Hard.

“How dare you?”
