I frown. “Wait, she just, pulled him under the table? Because she needed assistance?”

Dustin shrugs. “I mean, nobody is really sure what happened, but there was some moaning, a few cries for help, and then when we finally got to him, he just stared at us with this long blank stare. But Gertrude found her second wind, grabbed those dentures and then went back on the dance floor. I’m sure everything’s fine though. He was heard saying the Lord’s Prayer. Normal for a priest, right?”

Me and Killian share a look; he shakes his head. “He’s gonna need us.”

“Solidarity. If there was communion wine, he’d be neck deep in it, Gertrude is the best but when she’s on the devil’s liquor…”

Killian nods. “Let’s go check in on him.”

“Oh!” Dustin claps his hands together. “He’s back at the room getting ready since we have that moonlight tasting and food tasting and why are they planning things so late in the evening? I just want to sleep.”

Killian presses a hand against his face and yawns. “I’m the worst rockstar ever. A nap sounds lovely.”

I giggle. “You said lovely in the most British accent ever.”

He turns and winks at me. “But did you like it?”

I swear every part of my body spins out of control, between chills, goosebumps, and insane attraction, I freeze. I can’t even look away. I’m expecting him to joke again, but instead he reaches for me, gripping the back of my neck.

I gasp. His smile is so beautiful it should be illegal and tragic all at once because how does a person ever move on from that sort of smile, with dimples on each side, a strong jaw, just the perfect amount of a five o’clock shadow, honeyed dark hair and glory?

“I’m gonna kiss you now.” He looks over my head. “Dustin cover your eyes.”

“What? Why?”

“Fine,” I whisper. “I’ll just cover mine and imagine an insanely good-looking rockstar decided to seduce me.”

“I can hear you!” Dustin yells. “God, you haven’t even signed the papers!”

“Papers,” Killian repeats. “Burn them all.”

“Why are you both so charming and so argumentative? I can’t decide.” I sigh and lean up on my tip toes, meeting his soft lips.

He presses an eager kiss to my mouth and pulls away. “Because, it confuses you enough to stay.”

“Was I leaving?”

His expression darkens. “It feels like everyone does.”

“Oh, look! A duck. Swimming on by. With an oar!” Dustin exclaims loudly. “No need to talk about family history out here. Remember, Adrian just got seduced by your aunt! Ha-ha!”

“What if I don’t?” I ask. “I mean you’re kind of stuck with me for now.”

He grins. “I don’t have a choice.”

“You never did.”

I’m so far gone when his mouth meets mine again that had I not been in pain or aware of Dustin watching us I probably would have stripped Killian fully naked and had my way with him even though I’m fully aware it’s a horrible idea. I have no business wanting him.

He has no business kissing me.

And yet we can’t stop.

He lifts me into the air, his hands on my ass, pressed fully against my front, mouth latched onto mine, God, he tastes good.

Dustin clears his throat. “Ahem, we should probably go rescue Adrian and do our duties as guests.”

“Duties,” Killian says against my mouth, rubbing himself against me. “Never sounded so good.”

“So good,” I repeat. “So hard.”

“Yes.” Dustin coughs. “Duties are very difficult, and I am still here. I exist.”

“Good for you,” Killian yells. “Give us five minutes.”

“Oh, look a child born out of wedlock, just over there,” Dustin yells. “Seriously, you both need to come.”

“Yes.” I grab Killian’s shirt and tug him closer. “We do.”

“So bad,” he agrees. “What the hell have you done to me, you heathen?”

“Need,” I moan.

“WHY!” A voice sounds.

We break apart, I slowly, achingly slide down the front of Killian, feeling every inch of glory and turn. Adrian’s standing there, mouth swollen, eyes wide.

“You good?” I ask.

He shakes his head slowly. “Forgive me, Father, I’m about to sin.”

“Oh, shit,” Killian whispers under his breath. “He looks like he saw a ghost.”

“Demon,” Adrian corrects. “With lipstick.”

“Did you at least have fun burning in hell?” Killian jokes before Adrian makes a lunge toward him.

And that’s when I bolt.

I run, laughter bubbling out of me.

Killian follows, gripping my hand.

Dustin’s cursing.

Adrian’s even cursing and stumbling, I can’t one hundred percent decipher what he’s saying but I’m pretty sure he’s quoting Dante’s Inferno—by heart.

We make it across the road and back to the suite before he can get us, but resistance is futile. The minute we get inside, Adrian yanks open the door. “She asked me to suck her—”

“Nope!” I cover my ears. “Nope, no sad words!”

“Pearls,” Adrian finishes. “And I think she meant something else.”

Dustin exhales a long breath then pants a few more times. “There, there, I’m sure she meant pearls.”
