I couldn’t hold my tears back any longer. Throwing my arms around his neck, I lifted onto my toes and kissed him with everything I had. Every ounce of love that I felt for him I put into that kiss, and I felt it in return. He bent down and picked me up, carrying me into his bedroom.

“Clare, I want to make love to you,” he whispered as he laid me down on is bed.

I wanted to scream out for the world to hear me. Yes! Yes! Instead, I lifted my hand and placed it on the side of his face and said the only thing that would come out.

“Wes.”

Smiling, he kissed along my jaw, down my throat and back up to my ear. “Is that a yes?”

I arched my body up to his, desire throbbing everywhere. Our eyes met and I knew from that moment on, my life would never be the same.

“That is a hell yes.”

His handsome face grew even more so when he smiled down at me. His soft fingers brushed a piece of hair back from my face, and when he gently tucked it behind my ear and let his gaze move over my face, I knew that he had the ability to destroy me if he wanted to. But from the way he was looking down at me, I knew my heart, my soul, my body…was completely safe with him.

Wes laced his fingers with mine as he placed our hands over my head. “Tell me what you’re thinking right now, Clare.”

My eyes searched his face. “That I’ve never felt this way with anyone before.”

He kissed the corner of mouth. “Felt what way?” he asked as he kissed the opposite corner of my mouth.

“Happy. Safe. Excited. Nervous.”

He grinned. “Nervous? Tell me you’re not a virgin, my sweet Clare.”

A nervous bubble of laughter escaped as I shook my head. “No, but this feels…”

“Different,” we both said at the same time.

“Make love to me, Wes, please.”

“Oh, Clare, I’m going to make love to you all night long.”

Wes got off the bed and pulled his shirt over his head as I leaned up onto my elbows and watched him strip out of his clothes. Lord, the man was so beautiful. I chewed on my lower lip and watched as he stood before me, gloriously naked.

Is this really happening? Am I going to finally feel Wes against my body? Feel what it’s like to have him inside of me.

When my eyes moved up his body and met his intense gaze, I grinned. “Stop talking, Mr. Ward, and get me out of these clothes.”

Wes

The Best Moment of My Life

My hands shook as I took Clare’s hands and pulled her up. She lifted her arms as I drew her shirt over her head.

“Are you nervous?” she asked as she laid back down on the bed and I worked at getting her pants off.

“What gave it away?” I asked with a wink. “Lift up.”

Clare grinned as she lifted her bottom up and I pulled her pants and panties off. I tossed them to the floor and stared down at her. She was perfect. Beautiful in every single way.

“Clare, you’re…I’m not gonna last…I…” I dropped back onto my knees.

“Wes?” Clare asked as she lifted onto her elbows again. “Are you okay?”

Slowly shaking my head, I laughed. “There has been something missing in my life, and I could never figure out what it was. Sex has always been about pleasure and release, but it never felt intimate. Right now…with you…it feels like so much more. Like I’m about to do something I’ve never done before.”

Clare swallowed. “Do you want to wait?”

A pained laugh escaped me. “No. I want you more than I’ve ever wanted anyone in my life. But I need you to know something, Clare.”

“Okay,” she softly said, sitting up and looking at me.

“This feels different. This desire to be with you…connect with you in this way. I’m in love with you and I need you to know that before we do this. That you’re not like those other women, that this is something I’ve never experienced before with any other person.”

Closing my eyes, I drew in a deep breath and exhaled before looking back at her. Tears were building in her eyes, and when they slipped free, I reached over and brushed them away.

“What about with Mandy?” Clare asked.

I shook my head. “I don’t want to talk about her at all, but I will say that I was never this freaking nervous.”

Smiling, Clare reached for my hand and drew me to her as she laid down. “I’m in love with you as well, Wes. And I feel the same way as you do.”

Settling myself over her, I cupped her head in my hands and gently kissed her. I could kiss Clare all night long and be happy. The taste of her was addicting, and soothed a part of my soul that I never knew needed to be soothed.
