“I know that, but God, if I’m having dreams like that, crying like a ninny, how long is he going to want to deal with my crap? I mean, he’s going to want to work out of town with my brand of crazy simmering around us.” I blow out a puff of air, annoyed with my damn self.
“Oh please, the sun rises and sets on your asshole. Everyone sees it, but apparently not you. He’d do anything for you, and I’m pretty sure you’d do anything for him, right?” She slurps down a gulp of her iced green tea that just tastes nasty to me. It’s eight o’clock in the morning, and she’s drinking something cold and green. Sometimes I wonder how we’re best friends with the shit she eats and drinks.
“I would, but if I can’t get my shit together, we’re going to have a long road ahead of us.” I thump my head down on the counter, as if that will help.
“Quit being a bonehead. Going home with a bruise on your forehead will be the least attractive thing ever.” Raven snorts, literally snorts like she’s a pig. I pick my head up and laugh my ass off. See what I mean? My emotions are all over the place.
“You’re right. Go home. I’m going to as well. There’s no reason for you to be awake when I just need to get my shit together and quit having a pity party for myself.” I see her roll her eyes, but I stand up when she does, both of us walking out of the coffee shop, our arms banded together like we always do when we’re walking side by side. Half the time when we were growing up, this is how you would see us. We would even do this weird thing where our legs would go out to the right side and then the left in tandem. My parents just shook their heads and laughed at our shenanigans.
“Love you, Selena. Things will get better. Or maybe your period is coming or something.” We used to be in sync. That all changed when we kind of veered away from each a little in college, each of us with different jobs and not seeing one another every single day for hours on end.
“You’re probably right. Love you. Drive safe!” I call out as she walks towards her car. I was able to walk here with it only being a few blocks away from my apartment. Once Raven is gone and I can no longer see her vehicle, I pull my phone out and maneuver to my period app that stores all of my information. It takes me a minute or two to digest things. I haven’t had a period in over a month. Holy fuck. I shove my phone into my purse and hoof it down the street. This could explain so many things and could also throw a wrench in our plans, but the thought of being pregnant, it’s kind of exciting too.

“Can’t talk. Gotta pee.” Selena slams through the door and then runs to the bathroom. I guess her coffee date with Raven went well with the way she’s smiling when she barrels through the apartment.
“Okay.” I stand up and head to the kitchen to make myself another cup of coffee, waiting for her to come out and see how her time with Raven went. Selena took the week off along with me. I think we both needed it being this new in our relationship, going faster than warp speed at times, which I’m not gonna complain about. Not one fucking bit.
I’m just taking my first sip of coffee when she comes out, a white stick in hand and a beautiful smile on her face.
“So, I have a surprise for you, but first I want you to know this wasn’t planned. I told you before we had sex the first time that I was protected. I’ve been on birth control forever because when I’m not, I’m a raging bitch while on my period,” she draws things out.
“Yeah, you mentioned that.” A smile sneaks out of me, wanting to hear those words come out of her mouth.
“Well, either you have some kind of crazy superior sperm, or my womb is dynamite. It could be a mixture of both because I’m pregnant!” She runs and leaps into my arms, the pregnancy test landing on the counter.
“So fucking happy, Lena. You’re carrying our baby. I’m gonna make you my wife, and fucking soon,” I tell her before I slam my lips on hers, our tongues tangling together, the moans that are coming from Selena making me want her more.
“Truly?” she questions, pulling away from me.
“I mean it. Going to make you my wife. We’re going to figure out where to raise our little one, and I’m going to be in your corner as you start your career. We’re a team. Nothing is going to stop that from happening, okay?”
