“We may have to change your name to something more in tune with your current hero status. What do you think of Saint?” she asked.
“I am going to spank your cute bottom,” Faust swore.
“I’ll look forward to it,” she quipped.
As they parked in the Shadowridge Guardians’ compound, Molly turned to Faust and shared, “I love you, Daddy.”
The look on Faust’s face made her heart skip a few beats. He reached for her and cursed the small space. “You had to tell me you love me inside a tin can.”
She cracked open her door and waved at the space outside the car. Molly didn’t dare get out herself. She’d learned that lesson. Faust shook his head and climbed out. In a few seconds, he’d circled the car and tugged Molly out.
“Say it again.”
“I love you, Daddy.”
He lifted her up to press a soft kiss to her lips. The second followed quickly as Molly wrapped her arms and legs around him to hold on. The sweet tender exchange made tears gather in her eyes.
“I love you, too, Molly.”
“I know. You show me every day,” she whispered and kissed him again. “I was so proud of you today. Not just for helping Lester, but for going to church with me. It was way out of your comfort zone. You were so brave.”
“It wasn’t like I was going to get stabbed again there. I don’t think that older lady with the fancy blue hair was going to shiv me when I walked in the door for being on her turf,” he scoffed.
“No stabbing,” Molly agreed. “That’s pretty well a no-no in the bible. It won’t be that exciting next time. If you want to go back.”
“I’m with you, Pixie. Where you go, I go.”
“Could we go back to your apartment?” she asked, giving him an over-the-top theatrical wink.
He gave her a hard kiss as he started walking. Everyone looked up when he threw the door open with one hand to carry Molly inside. Silence greeted them at their rushed entrance. Busy kissing her Daddy, Molly waved before they disappeared down the hallway. She had to smile against his lips as the sound of clapping followed them down from the main room.
“I’m going to church next week if it’s that inspiring,” Steele commented drily.
“Fuck,” Faust said as he juggled her to open the door. “I’m never going to hear the end of this. And this is our apartment now. We’re emptying out your place next week.”
“Whatever you say, Daddysaurus.”
