“Fuck, woman.”

“Not another word,” I huff, so angry I’m shaking with it. I’m sick to my stomach because I struck Liam. I stomp off to my office. I don’t know if Liam is following me and at this point, I’m kind of hoping he’s not.

Fury

I follow her in the office, closing the door behind us and turning the lock. I stand against it, my face still heated from her slap. I cross my arms at my chest and look at Ellie. She’s wearing faded jeans, a pale blue t-shirt that has Wallbanger’s written across the front and her hair pulled back high on her head in a ponytail. Her hair is so long that the gathered strands still fall below her shoulders. The blue in her eyes are dark with anger. Her face tight, as she stares at me. Her breathing is ragged, causing her breasts to rise and fall and all I can think is that this is what I’ve been missing all this time. Ellie is electric. She gives life a purpose. Without her, I was barely existing. She brings heat, fire, and emotion. Fuck, I’ve missed her.

“You’ve got about three minutes to talk, Ice. After that, I bending you over that desk and spanking your ass for that little show out there.”

“You touch me and I’ll de-ball you in ten seconds. Don’t forget that you taught me how to take care of myself, Liam and I’m damn good at it.”

“I haven’t forgotten, Ice. I also know that because I taught you, I know exactly what you will do. So, you’re free to try. In fact, I want you to. The end result will still be the same. I’m spanking that ass of yours. You’ve got one minute.”

I see the exact moment she begins to get uneasy. She’s remembering who she’s dealing with. I’m not like the boys she used to deal with, the ones that she could lead around with the crook of her finger. I’m a man and I never fit into any box she tried to put me in. That’s part of the reason she fell in love with me. Hell, maybe it’s why I fell in love with her too.

“You aren’t touching me. We’re over Liam. What you pulled out there was bullshit. If I want to go out with Wayne, or any freaking man, I will. There’s not a thing you can do to stop me.”

“If you think that, you’re in for the shock of your life, Ellie. You’re mine. You’ve always been mine and I’m not going to pretend any longer that you’re not.”

“I’m yours?” she asks, disbelief making the words come out as a question, so I feel the need to confirm it and not leave room for argument.

“Mine.”

“You’re delusional.”

I take a step towards her and she backs up, taking two away from me. Pretty soon she’s going to crash into her desk, but since that’s where I want her anyway, I’m more than good with that.

“Turn around and put your hands on the desk, Ice.”

“Go to hell, Liam.”

“That just bought you an extra slap.”

“You take one more step towards me and I’ll have Hank in here so quick your forking head will spin!”

“Forking?” I laugh, knowing that Ellie’s strange words only make an appearance when she’s nervous or pissed. In this case, it’s probably both. It’s kind of hard to tell which, actually. I like both looks on her, so either works for me. She flails around behind her, keeping me in her eyesight the entire time. She picks up the phone and holds it out like it’s some kind of shield between us.

“You come one more step and I’m calling him,” she warns.

“Who in the fuck is Hank?”

“Our bouncer.” She huffs out the words like she’s announcing that the current heavyweight champion of the world is going to come rushing in here to save her. What she apparently hasn’t grasped is that no one can keep her from me. I’d take on the world to keep her. I’ve tasted time without her and I didn’t realize how bitter it was, at least not fully, until I saw her again.

“He’s welcome to try, but you and I both know he’s not keeping me from you, Ice.”

“Liam, be reasonable. We’re divorced.”

“You want another piece of paper between us, Ice?”

“Are you—”

“We’ll go down to the fucking courthouse right now and get that shit done.”

“You are delusional,” she mumbles.

“I’m telling you that I don’t care if it’s been a year or—”

“Liam, it’s been almost two years!”

“Or fifteen years, Ellie,” I snap. “You’re still mine. You’ve always been mine and you always will be.”

“That’s not how it works,” she argues. “You can’t say that and you especially can’t say that shit now. The time to try and keep me with you was when I told you I was going to leave if you went through with Diesel’s orders!”
