“I think it’s a pussy,” Gunnar said.

“Fuck off.” The bread he was buttering tore because of the force he was using. This pissed him off. Rolling it up, he shoved it into his mouth and took a bite, then another, before starting on another slice of bread.

He hadn’t eaten much yesterday, and he was starving. Images of Amelia kept flashing in his mind, driving him crazy. He shouldn’t have just left like that. It was a dick move.

“It’s a woman,” they all said in unison, making him glare.

“Fuck off.”

None of them did.

Enzo chuckled as he knitted. The other brothers were focused on him.

“Come on, you’re having girl trouble,” Gray said. “And you’re surrounded by men who know how to handle the ladies.” He winked.

He finished making his sandwich and sat back at the table. “You ever been with a virgin?” he asked.

Every single one of them winced.

A chorus of hell no, and dude, seriously, echoed around the room.

“Have you been with a virgin?” Enzo asked.

“No, but just for argument’s sake, if I have been, or if one existed. How would you … you know, go about … doing that?”

All the brothers stared at him. This wasn’t what he wanted. He didn’t want to be a spectacle.

What he wanted was to know how to fix this shit with Amelia. He wasn’t a bad lover. Women had left him looking in complete heaven, not like they wanted to never see him again.

“First time for women is painful,” Draco said.

Wolfe didn’t even realize Draco was in the room. The brother stood, leaning against the door. His face bland.

“It is?”

“Yeah, and as a wolf, it can be … hard for them.”

“How?”

“They’re wolves. They want to … fuck. They want to be close, but it’s painful, and sometimes, if that pain is too great, their wolf will come forward. It can be dangerous for their mate or the man they’re with. Also, if the wolf comes forward, and there is still blood and all that, I’ve heard that a woman can heal herself.”

“Like a multiple virgin?” Gunnar asked.

“It’s rare, and it depends on the pain level,” Draco said. “With a virgin, you have to take your time. Be patient, allow her to become accustomed to you.”

“What if … she doesn’t turn into a wolf, but the pain is very much real?” he asked.

“It depends. A weak female may not have the power or ability to call her wolf to protect her. Or, she could be that strong, and she is in constant control of her wolf at all times.” Draco shrugged.

He looked off to the distance, and Wolfe knew he’d fucked up. With Draco knowing what he did about virgin mates, it meant, his woman, the one he lost, had been one. There was a darkness within his gaze, and when that happened, shit was about to get dangerous.

Wolfe shoved the sandwich into his mouth and got to his feet.

As he did, Draco looked up at him and glared.

“I’ll take the first round,” he said, leaving the table. No one even attempted to try to stop him. Fucking assholes.

It’s your fault.

Draco was already in the basement where they had their sparring equipment and gym tools.

“Draco, man, you okay?”

“My mate was a virgin,” Draco said. “Our first time together, I … we … it was … magical. She was in pain, but I was patient. I promised that I would love her forever and that I would wait until she was ready. They took her from me, Wolfe. They … stole my mate from me.”

“I know, man. I’m sorry.” Wolfe remained tense.

Draco was fighting his wolf.

The pain.

Wolfe couldn’t even begin to imagine what Draco must have gone through. What he continued to go through. The club knew it was hard for him. On special anniversaries, on birthdays, on any event that he remembered with his mate.

It was why none of them said her name. None of them talked about her. Every day was a challenge for Draco. With the threat of the hunters surrounding them, it didn’t exactly help.

“Are you okay, man?” Wolfe asked again.

“I failed her, Wolfe. I can still hear her screams as clear now as I did then. They tore her apart. They stopped her from being able to heal.”

Draco’s scream came out as a growl. The pain echoed throughout the whole clubhouse. Everyone would be able to hear it.

It was why the club groupies often kept a wide berth of Draco. He was unpredictable, and as far as Wolfe was aware, he’d never drowned any of his sorrows in any of the women available. He’d never done that.

Draco’s hands began to turn, and Wolfe charged forward, wrapping his arms around him.

“Stop it, man. Keep focus. You’re Draco. You’re with the Poison Wolves MC. You’re not back there. You’re free. You’re safe.”

“She is gone!”
