“You too,” I demanded.

“Don’t worry about me.” His voice was strained but determined. “Want to get you there first.”

“You’re gonna.” I wasn’t about to argue with his plan, not when my whole body was on fire, and only one thing could quench the blaze. My need to come was reaching near-terrifying levels. “There. There.”

He gave another forceful thrust, nailing my spot, and then I was tumbling over in free fall, all my fears about letting go gone. There was nothing scary about this rush, and far from the vulnerable I sometimes felt with orgasm, I was powerful, roaring as I came, triumphant. And through it all, Duncan held me, ensuring I got every possible drop of satisfaction but also keeping me safe. Safe. I was blissfully safe in his arms, a pleasure I’d never had but couldn’t get enough of. My head fell back, and he peppered me with the softest kisses.

“Fuck. You are so fucking perfect.” He soothed me by skimming his hands over my torso even as his body trembled.

“Your turn,” I gasped, and apparently, that was the permission he’d been waiting for because he gently withdrew and shifted so he could jerk his cock. Stripping off the condom, he went hard, strokes so fast his hand blurred.

“Ezra. Ezra,” he moaned as he came all over my back. And I’d heard my name chanted everywhere, from sidewalks to stadiums, but never had it sounded so beautiful, so right. He dropped a kiss on my shoulder. “Thank you.”

Fuck. His reverent tone was enough to make my cock give one last pulse before I groaned, weighty pleasure making me as sleepy as a thick pile of blankets. I was already starting to drift when he kissed my cheek.

“Be right back.”

“Like I can move to chase after you.” Not opening my eyes, I gave a tired laugh. And then he returned with a warm washcloth, hands so tender as he cleaned me off that I almost wanted to weep with how good it felt.

“You can sleep now.” He kissed the back of my neck before scooting away. “I’ll be back to walk you to the bus in the morning.”

That woke me up enough to get me to crack an eye open. “You’re leaving already?”

I didn’t want to sound whiny, and I should have known he wouldn’t want to be caught here, but my chest pinched nonetheless.

“I should get dressed while I still have the energy.” He offered me a fond smile. “Besides, I’m sparing you my tossing and turning. I’m not much of a cuddler.”

He was such a liar, but I let him have his delusion. I wasn’t going to beg him to stay. “Better not be weird about this tomorrow.”

“I’ll try.” His eyes softened, expression going decidedly wistful. Duncan wasn’t a try sort of guy. He was a doer, and his hedging made my stomach cramp. Tomorrow was absolutely going to be weird, and if I wasn’t so damn sleepy, I would have called him on it, but all I could do was yawn and hope it wouldn’t be as awful as I feared.

Chapter Fifteen

Duncan

As much as I didn’t want things to be weird the next morning, I knew they would be. Especially when Kate, not Ezra, opened his door. Damn it. The whole walk to Ezra’s suite, I’d rehearsed the conversation we needed to have. In private. Without an audience. But no chance of that now, no chance to regroup together or figure out how to act normal around the others.

For all that I was a highly trained operative, I wasn’t cut out for clandestine affairs, and I was absolutely certain that Kate could sense the guilt rolling off me in waves. I resisted the urge to twitch as she ushered me in. She seemed preoccupied with her phone, but I couldn’t shake the sense that disaster was seconds away.

“Ezra isn’t ready.” Kate didn’t glance up from her phone as she paced over to the couch where coffee and some pastries were waiting on the low table. “He overslept as usual.”

“I didn’t oversleep.” Dressed only in a pair of black boxers, Ezra opened the bedroom door. His underwear fabric looked soft and silky, and I wanted to groan with how badly I wanted to rub my face against it. But instead, I had to clench my fists and let him banter with Kate. “Not my fault Kate was so early. Besides, you both should be glad I slept well. I feel like a new person.”

He looked right at me as he added the last part. Not a leer precisely, but definitely more of an inside joke there than I was comfortable with, and a little cough escaped my throat.

“Well, I am glad you turned out not to be sick.” Crossing to Ezra, Kate placed her hands on his bare shoulders and spun him around. “We need to get a move on. And you need to stop making Duncan squirm by running around half-dressed.”
