When she thought back to her wedding day and the start of her marriage with James, she couldn’t believe how much her life had changed. How happy she was. How happy they all were.
Not a moment went by when Drake or James weren’t telling her of their love for her. What started out as a nightmare had turned into something so beautiful, so right, for the three of them.
Drake and James slowly walked out of the nursery. They smiled at her. James took her hand and they walked to their bedroom. Drake had the child monitor.
Settling into bed, Drake on one side, James on the other with her between the two, she settled her head against Drake’s chest.
“Are you happy?” James asked, making her smile. When he’d first handed the tape over to the cops five years ago, she’d been afraid. She thought her parents were going to ruin them. It never happened. Their crimes didn’t go unpunished, and they were both sentenced to life imprisonment. She never heard from them again.
When she saw that her parents had been arrested and the cops were asking her questions, she thought she’d be angry at James for doing what he did. In fact, she’d felt nothing but relief. Her sister could finally rest in peace now.
He asked her often if she was happy. Drake had told her it was because he felt guilty. She’d told James not to. That she was happy. She was in love.
“I love you both so much. I’m so happy. We’ve got a beautiful baby girl.”
“That’s right. I’m not going to lie, that scared the shit out of me when your water broke,” Drake said. “Scariest hours of my life.”
Both of her men had been with her when she’d given birth. They’d gotten strange looks from the doctor and nurses, but she’d not cared. Drake and James were the fathers, and she was going to have them both there.
“Would you change me?” she asked.
Just like always her men growled.
“Not happening,” James said.
“Never. We’re here to stay. Besides, we agreed to ten kids. We’ve got another nine to go,” Drake said.
“No, we agreed to two,” Abby said.
“I thought it was eight,” James said.
They all burst out laughing.
“Four it is, I guess,” Drake said.
She listened to her men barter on how many kids they were going to have. As they got to six, Eliza gave a cry.
They all went back to the nursery, and her breasts filled up with every whimper. James lifted their daughter up from the crib and carried her over to Abby. Drake was already sitting close.
As she nursed their baby, she looked up into James’s eyes.
The love shone down. “She’s the best thing we’ve ever made.”
“She really is,” Drake said. “I love you, Abby.”
“I love you too,” James said.
With her men at her back, watching as she nursed their daughter, she had a feeling they would settle for four, but it didn’t matter. So long as she had her men and their love, that was all that mattered.
