Con pushed into me, from behind his cock stretching me almost to the point of pain. He wrapped his large hands around my waist, and I sensed he was holding himself back. Letting me adjust. I nudged back against him, letting him know I was ready. That I wanted more.
His hands tightened, and then he began to rock his hips back and forth. I squeezed my eyes shut; the pleasure almost unbearable. I was making keening noises I’d never heard myself make before. In between, begging him for more.
“You like it like this?” he asked, plowing into me harder.
I nodded desperately, though my head was already bouncing around from the force of his thrusts. “Yes, yes,” I said, almost pleading. I’d never imagined sex could be like this. Animalistic in its passion but still somehow safe. Con could have asked me to do anything, and I would have done it eagerly.
“I can’t believe I’m the only man who has gotten to see you like this,” he said almost to himself.
“You’re the. Only one. I’ve ever wanted like this,” I managed to say. Mounting pleasure and pressure was pushing me toward another orgasm. “Con, I’m going to–”
He laughed darkly when I couldn’t bring myself to say it. “Go ahead, but I’m not done yet. I have more I want to do to you. Show you.”
I lost count of how many times I orgasmed that night. At some point, the lamp got knocked off the side table, plunging us into darkness. Finally, half on the couch, half on the floor, our bodies so slick with sweat that we nearly slid off each other, Con let himself come. I wrapped my arms around his neck, holding him tightly while he jerked and spasmed inside me.
“Fuck,” he breathed, sinking down onto me, finally exhausted and spent. “Lily, you’re going to kill me.”
“Me?” I laughed, pushing at his shoulder. “You’re the one with all the tricks.”
He shifted his weight so that he was entirely on the couch, then pulled me against him. We were both breathing hard, damp with perspiration. There was a blanket on the floor, but neither of us reached for it.
“Con.” I tilted my head back on his shoulder so that I could see his face. “This wasn’t a mistake.”
He didn’t open his eyes, but he didn’t deny it either.
“And if you ever try to send me away again–”
His eyes opened now, and his grip around me tightened. “You’re not going anywhere, Lily.”
Relief filled me.
“And if I ever see Devon’s fucking face in the office again–”
I shook my head hard. “He’s a nice guy.”
Con’s grip tightened further, warningly.
“But I was only using him to make you jealous,” I confessed.
“It worked.”
I smiled into his shoulder. “I know.”

CON
I’d tried.
I didn’t know if that counted for anything, but at least if I had to explain this to Halley one day, I could honestly say I’d tried. But all my efforts amounted to nothing. I couldn’t put the genie back in the bottle. I stared down at Lily. Her naked body was only half covered by the soft blanket I’d pulled over us in the night. She was curled against me, her hair spilling over the arm I kept around her. She had one arm hooked around my chest. My shoulder was her pillow. I could feel her light breathing skittering across my clavicle. Her leg was draped over mine, golden against my paler skin. I pulled the blanket up higher, though I’d never seen anything as beautiful as the length of her body wrapped around mine.
The movement woke her. I felt her eyelashes flutter open before she raised her head to blink sleepily at me. “Good morning,” she whispered.
“Good morning,” I said.
We stared at each other as the sleep slowly faded from her eyes and a shadow of concern took its place. “Do you remember what you said?”
I nodded slowly.
“And you’re not trying to take it back?” she demanded.
I shook my head. “No, I’m not trying to take it back. But–”
“No buts.” Lily settled her head back on my shoulder. Her limbs tightened around me. “I’m not going anywhere.”
I called Laura later that day to tell her Lily wasn’t coming after all.
“You’re in trouble, old pal,” Laura said.
“You don’t know the half of it,” I said and hung up.
I hated myself for not having the strength to make her go, but after last night, I’d given up. Whatever had dragged us together was inexorable. The only thing to do now was to let it run its course and hope it let go before we completely fucked up each other’s lives.
After that night, we began spending every free minute together that we could. I kept thinking that it would get old. I would get bored. We would have nothing in common. The age difference would widen between us like a canyon until we couldn’t remember what the hell had brought us together in the first place.
