“Yes.” That doesn’t bother me. I suspect the majority of people are on meds, but they just don’t talk about it.

“I’ve been weaning off them.”

“Okay.” I cock my head to the side. “Why?”

“Have you noticed any differences in me?”

“No. You’re still my angel.”

She lets out a relieved breath. “Good.”

“That’s what you wanted to tell me?” I nibble her neck again and free myself from my pajama bottoms.

“No.”

I stop and try to be patient, though her body is calling to mine. “Okay.”

“I also decided to stop taking my birth control.”

My eyes have never been so wide.

She hurries along, “But I can go back on them if you don’t want to, you know, because I get it, it’s early, and children are—”

I kiss her again, claiming her mouth fully as my heart surges and my love for her expands beyond reason.

Her hands go around my neck as I pour my love into her, worshipping her with my tongue.

“Brendan.” She’s breathless. “Wait.”

I pull back. “Yes.”

“Yes?”

“Yes. I want kids whenever you want them. I was fine with waiting, but if you’re ready, I’m ready.”

She smiles, tears glistening in her eyes. “Are you sure?”

“I’ve only been sure about one thing in my life.” I kiss her again. “And that’s you. Us. If you want this, I want it, too. And you are going to be an amazing mom.”

“I love you.” She kisses me on a joyful laugh.

“Now, about that baby-making.” I thrust into her, and she moans as I give her all of me.

She’s already given me so much more than I ever dreamed.

EPILOGUE II

4 years later

Christmas Day

“I did it.” I jump up from the sofa, and all the cats scurry away from me. “Sorry,” I whisper, hoping I didn't wake anyone up.

I look down at the winter hat I’ve finally completed. My days of getting frustrated and shoving my knitting stuff into the couch cushions are over. Before I’m able to celebrate too much, Brendan comes rushing into the living room in his matching pajamas. We all have them, even our little Holly Bell.

“What’s wrong?” He looks so handsome with his eyes sleepy and his hair tousled. My fingers did that to him when we’d made love in the middle of the night. It’s getting easier now that Holly’s a little older and has better sleeping habits. Sometimes I miss all the sneaky sex we had when she was smaller. But when she began to walk, our privacy quickly went out the window.

Brendan and Holly have brought me more happiness than I ever thought possible and I wouldn’t change anything. I can’t forget about Mrs. Claws, Charlie, and my fluffy fur babies, Dancer, Prancer, Cupid and Vixen. My heart is full.

“Look.” I hold out the cute little hat I made for our daughter, Holly. It’s going to look so sweet on her perfect little head. I beam as I show off my accomplishment to Brendan. He runs his hand through his hair before he dons a big smile. He walks to me, reaching up to caress my face.

“I’m so proud of you,” he says before kissing my lips. “But I thought you said you were knitting a hat for Holly.” I look down at my woven masterpiece, not understanding what the heck Brendan is talking about. Of course this is for Holly. He must still be half asleep.

“That’s what I said. Isn’t it adorable? As soon as she wakes up, I’m going to give it to her.”

“Angel, I hate to be the one to break it to you, but that hat is a bit on the tiny side.”

I glance at the hat again, realizing that it’s too small for Holly. Brendan must see the disappointment on my face, because he kisses me.

“I have an idea.” He dons a devilish grin, and I know that whatever comes out of his mouth I’m most likely going to agree to. He’s irresistible when he gives me that look. “I’ll just put another baby in you. Problem solved.”

“Okay.” I don’t even think twice about it. We’ve been batting the idea around for months. I return his warm embrace.

He deepens the kiss, lifting me up so I can wrap my legs around him. His hands grasp my ass, holding me tight. I begin to move my hips, seeking the friction I need. His mouth moves to my neck, kissing me in that sweet spot behind my ear.

“Let’s make a Christmas baby.” He groans and turns to head toward our bedroom.

“Mommy?” A tiny, angelic voice.

Brendan stops in his tracks.

“Little cock blocker,” Brendan whispers into my mouth, making me giggle.

“Is it Christmas?” she asks as she rubs the sleep from her eyes.

“It is.” I wiggle so Brendan puts me down.

We have all day to steal a moment to make our Christmas baby.

“Yay!” She dances down the hallway, right under her father’s legs where she grabs my hand and pulls me back toward the living room. She stops to stick her tongue out at the kitchen, and I know it’s aimed at the house that sits over a mile behind us and their Christmas decorations.
