I freeze, my body nearly pinning her to the wall. My eyes bore into hers, seeing a flicker of desire—the same one I saw in her eyes the night she let me taste her. She bites her lip, tipping her head back just enough that her dark hair brushes the white wall behind her.

“You’re playing a dangerous game,” I growl, running my fingertips across the bottom of her jaw to her chin. “You look fucking delicious right now.”

Liz’s cheeks flush an even deeper crimson. “You’re not going to do anything about it, are you?” The teasing is both infuriating and fucking hot.

“You keep talking like that, and I might fuck you right here. I don’t care who hears.” My eyes drop to her breasts, my mouth salivating as I think about the hard pink nipples hidden beneath the material. All I want is to feast on her.

“What if I want you to?” She dares me with those baby blues, her thick black lashes fluttering as I lean in closer. My nose brushes hers, and again, her breath cuts sharply.

There’s a heavy knock on the door before I can tell her exactly what will happen. I pull away, shaking my head as my wits return.

“Henry says that he’s been trying to get ahold of you,” Philip says, peeking his head in the door, taking in the scene. “You know how he’s being right now.”

“Yeah, I know,” I grunt, digging into my suit pocket for my phone. My dick is straining against the waistband of my pants for the third time in Liz’s presence, and I have to admit, I’m starting to get flustered.

“Can we come in yet? Sun is going down, and I think we might be drawing attention to ourselves out here,” Philip adds, his voice straining.

I glance back at Liz, nearly smiling at the burst of disappointment on her face. “Are you good with them coming in?”

She’s quiet for a moment but then nods. “Yeah, they can come in.”

“They ever bother you?” I can’t stop myself from asking the question. It burns to think of two men staying in this tiny apartment alone with her. It just fucking pisses me off, but I also know that Philip and Gerard are some of the best. They know how to control themselves.

“No, they never bother me,” she says, rolling her eyes as the two men enter the apartment. Gerard peeks out of the front window, staying there for a few moments—long enough to catch my attention.

“Something out there?”

He shakes his head. “Nah, just a bunch of punk kids. You know how they can be. They see guys like us, and they get curious. I don’t want to draw any attention to Liz’s apartment. They’re already eyeing your Mercedes. Her Audi stands out like a sore thumb, too.”

“No one has ever bothered me about it.” Liz’s tone is sharp.

“Yeah, but you’ve set yourself up to get robbed,” Gerard retorts. “You look like a rich woman living in a shit neighborhood.”

“That’s because she is,” I chuckle, eyeing her. She shoots me a glare that makes me smile, and I shrug my shoulders. “Just keep an eye on everything,” I say, turning back to the bodyguards. “Don’t let anything happen to her.”

“Yes, sir,” they both say in unison.

“Good, and make sure she gets to work on time. We start at eight sharp. I don’t like tardiness,” I add, shooting Liz a wink that makes her blush again.

Man, I’m never going to tire of that.

“We’ll have her there ten minutes early, ready to go.” Philip gives me a grin, and I laugh. They’re really just glorified babysitters, but they take their job seriously, and that’s a good thing.

They have precious cargo to protect. If they slack off, they’ll have to face not only Henry but me, too.

CHAPTER 7

Liz

“Good morning, Miss Massino,” Gloria greets me as I enter Troy’s office. She’s an older woman with bright white hair that I’m pretty sure is dyed.

“Good morning,” I say, keeping my tone light and hoping like hell she can’t tell how nervous I am, which has nothing to do with the job itself.

“Mr. Watkins is waiting for you in his office, and he’ll get you set up from there,” she beams, her smile as bright white as her hair. “Oh, and here’s this,” she says, picking up a stack of papers and holding it out for me. “It’s the new hire paperwork.”

“Thanks,” I reply. I take the stack from her, letting out a sigh. “Is his office just down the hall?”

She nods. “The first door on the left.”

I stand there for a moment more, taking in the skyscraper view. I’ve never seen a law office quite like this, but it makes sense. With my heart pounding, I take an unsteady step forward, my heel landing awkwardly on the carpet. I wobble but thankfully catch myself. Gloria gives me a half-smile.
