I had no answer to that.

“I have a question for you.”

His brows rose as he gestured with his head toward the door for me to walk with him. “What’s that?”

I got up and followed him outside.

He caught the dog from the kennel, wrestled a muzzle on Al who tried to bite him the entire time, and then we walked toward the path to the pool house.

Just like last night.

My face flamed, and I hurriedly tried to get my mind off the dirty thoughts.

“I want to go out to dinner tonight,” I blurted. “That’s my question. Can we? Somewhere that has bread, and appetizers, and dessert, and really good sweet tea.”

His lips twitched. “I think I can probably make that happen.”

My phone pinged, and I looked at it.

The grin slipped off my face.

“I have another question for you,” I murmured, reading the words on the screen.

He looked over at me briefly before turning back to the path ahead of us.

“What’s the question?”

I grinned. “Could you use your scariness to help me buy a truck sometime in the future? I need one.”

“Um...” He hesitated. “What?”

LARIC

There were a lot of things I’d been expecting, but that? Nope.

“Um.” I tilted my head slightly to the side. “What?”

She gestured for me to take her phone, and I did, almost worried what I’d see on it now.

I glanced at the screen and read the first few texts from an unknown number.

“You. Use your scariness. To help me buy a truck.” She paused. “I’ve been fighting with a salesman for the past four days now on a price of a truck, and I’m fairly sure that he’s screwing me over. My dad can’t make it out to where I want to get it for at least another week. He and my brother are on a motorcycle ride as of today that’ll take them down to Houston for a few days. All the other scary looking guys I know are with them. Meaning, if I want this truck, I need to get it now. Because there’s no way that it’ll stay.”

I frowned. “What’s so special about this truck?”

She crossed her good arm over her chest, and the swell of her breasts pressed together, poking out of the unshapely top she was wearing, causing me to momentarily forget what we were talking about.

Wednesday was beautiful. I’m talking, drop-dead gorgeous.

As I studied her, I knew where her dad’s bloodline—Native American—had come into play.

She had the same facial features, long blue/black hair and leanness to her body. She also had tits and ass and darker skin. Something that Wednesday Addams totally never had. At least, from what last I watched.

We arrived at the pool where I wanted to work with Al today.

I was trying to find something, anything, that would help him out.

And last night as we’d passed Al’s kennel on the way back from the pool with her hand in mine, she’d asked if I’d ever brought the dog to the pool. Because Labs loved water.

“It’s not special, per se, but it’s something that I’ve wanted for a really long time. My dad was able to sell my car for me—”

I interrupted her. “Why did he sell your car for you right now? I mean, being honest, Cat. You have other things to deal with than your car. Thor the psycho almost-killer, to be precise.” I scowled.

She rolled her eyes. “Because my ex decided to fuck a woman that looks exactly like me inside of it a few weeks after we’d broken up. And he got jizz all over the seat. I just couldn’t deal with having it anymore. Gross.”

“On that note,” Six said as she came into the conversation. I turned to find her sitting on a lounger with her feet propped up by two pillows, her pregnant belly balancing a tray of cheese. “Do you think it’s possible for a woman to get pregnant by another man if they were to, say, ‘jizz’ in a hot tub?”

Trick was standing up with a groan from the hot tub, pulling Swayze along with him. The hot tub was once again fully occupied by everyone all over again, making me hesitate in bringing Al.

“We’ve recently discussed having kids. I don’t think that I can allow you to be in here safely anymore,” Trick grumbled.

Swayze laughed and sat back down. “They wouldn’t do that, and you know it, Patrick.”

My thoughts must’ve mirrored Catori’s because she pinched me on the butt, causing me to grunt in surprise.

“What?” Trouper asked, his gaze turning to me, sounding amused by the conversation.

“Catori pinched me.” I shrugged.

Trouper’s eyes went to the woman behind me.

His eyes settled on the gunshot wound on Catori’s shoulder.

“Did some digging around today after dinner,” he murmured, his eyes taking in the bullet wound that was closing ‘beautifully’ according to Zach.

“Yeah?” I asked. “About what?”
