I toss the towels down on a lounge chair and follow her into the water. She drops to her knees in the shallow end, letting the water wash over her, and I can’t help but think of how I’m standing before her as her eyes are level with my cock. I’m hard again, and when her eyes widen, I know she sees it.

I drop down next to her, but I’m able to sit on my ass, while Monroe is on her knees. “Makes me feel like a kid,” I say, running my hands through the water.

“Yeah,” she agrees, tilting her head back. “I can’t wait to be an aunt. Too bad my bestie won’t tell me if I’m going to have a niece or a nephew.”

“When are they sharing?”

“She said after the wedding. She didn’t want to take away from that. I tried to tell her we didn’t care, but she wouldn’t listen.”

“You want kids?” I ask. The way her eyes light up when she talks about Roman and Emerson’s baby tells me she does.

“I do. Two, at least. What about you?”

“As many as my wife will give me.”

Her eyes flare at my words, and what I just said registers in my mind. That leads to me thinking about Monroe being pregnant. Her belly rounded with our baby. Fuck. I can’t think about that. I’m already painfully hard, and I know she’d be stunning.

“Race you,” she says before she takes off, swimming away from me.

I start after her and grab hold of her ankle as she reaches the edge of the pool. I pull her body into me, her back aligned with my front. I don’t hesitate to wrap my arms around her. “Got you,” I whisper huskily into her ear.

She turns to look at me over her shoulder, and all I see is desire in her eyes.

I walk us to the edge of the pool and turn so my back is resting against the ledge. “Turn around.”

She does as I ask, turning in my arms. I grab her legs and move away from the wall just far enough she can wrap them around me. It’s deeper on this end, maybe five and a half feet, so the water almost covers her five-foot-six frame, making it harder for her to stand on her feet while keeping her head above water.

“What are you doing, Legend?” she murmurs.

“I wanted to hold you.”

“That’s not what we do,” she replies, but her arms and legs remain locked around me. She’s not trying to get away from me.

“We make the rules.”

We’re both fish out of water with the situation we’ve found ourselves in. Neither of us has ever been married, and we’ve never faked a relationship before. The rules are what we make them.

“Is this a new rule? That you get to hold me?”

Slowly, I nod. “I think so,” I finally answer her. “How do you feel about that?”

She wiggles in my arms, and my cock is nestled between her thighs.

“I think that I like this rule,” she says, her pupils wide with desire.

“I think that I like you,” I tell her, kissing the tip of her nose.

“You’re not so bad,” she teases, and I pinch her ass cheek, making her squeal and writhe in my arms. “Ouch.”

“You’re lucky your ass is underwater, or I would have spanked it.”

Her eyes widen. “Are you into that kind of thing?”

“What kind of thing is that?” I know exactly what she’s asking, but I want to hear her say it.

“You know—being rough. In bed,” she adds.

“No, gorgeous, I’m not. At least, I don’t think I am. Are you?”

She shrugs. “Never tried it.”

“Do you want to?”

“I’m not sure. It would have to be with someone I trust. Someone I know would never hurt me and would stop if I needed to.”

“Are we talking about spanking or something more?”

“All of it.” She shrugs.

“I’m your husband.”

Her smile is soft. “My fake husband.”

“Not fake.” I hold her a little tighter.

“You know what I mean. This isn’t a real marriage. Besides, a man like you has way more experience than a girl like me.”

“You calling me old, wife?” I growl.

Her reply is to toss her head back in laughter. “I mean, I wouldn’t say old, but you know, you do have ten years on me.”

“Does that bother you? That I’m so much older than you?” I don’t think it bothers her. She’s in full support of Roman and Emerson and their marriage, but I need to know before I take things further with her. I never want to put her in a position that makes her feel uncomfortable.

“No. It doesn’t bother me. However, if this were a real marriage, one where you chose me, it might bother you. I’m not all that… experienced.” She avoids my gaze and stares over my shoulder.

“Monroe?” I wait patiently, but she refuses to look at me. Shifting to hold all of her with one hand, I use the other to bring her eyes to mine. “There is not one single part of you that could ever disappoint me. Fuck, gorgeous, I’m honored to get to call you mine for however long that might be.” I don’t want to say our time is limited, because the more time we spend together, and the more I allow my thoughts to drift to what could be, the more I know I don’t want it to end. “You’re also forgetting something.”
