“Jesus, Nikki. I’m going to—”

She hollowed her cheeks, sucked harder, and sent him over the edge. His climax hit, and came long and hard. And damned if she didn’t swallow every last drop.

He returned to reality to find her staring up at him, her eyes heavy lidded but her gaze wary.

“No regrets,” he reassured her, before she could shush him again.

Her blinked in surprise. “Wow,” she said, her lips curving upward. “That’s a shock.”

With a sigh, he explained. “I promised I wouldn’t freeze you out again and I won’t.” He’d gone into this eyes open, and she’d been everything he’d wanted and more.

He could man up and admit that much. And he couldn’t think of anything better than sliding inside her tight heat and fucking her senseless. He even had an uncomfortable hunch she’d be everything he wanted and more than he bargained for. But it couldn’t happen.

He ran a hand through his hair. “I won’t freeze you out but we can’t have a repeat performance, or take things any further.”

She tipped her head to the side, studying him for so long he shifted in discomfort. Finally, she must have found the answers she was seeking because she nodded. “Okay.”

He narrowed his gaze. That was too easy and he hated the disappointment that filled him at her agreement.

She climbed out of bed, her tank top falling to the top of her naked bottom half. She glanced around, caught sight of a chair in the corner, and walked toward it, giving him a perfect view of her equally perfect ass.

She picked up his tee shirt strewn across the ottoman. “You don’t mind, right?” Without waiting for an answer, she pulled it over her head and let it hang down to her lower thighs. “I saw there’s a place to rent Jet Skis nearby?”

He nearly got whiplash at the unexpected change of subject. She really wasn’t going to fight him.

“There is. Why?”

“I think I’ll ask Corey to drive me there. I’d love to rent one for an hour.” She treated him to a mischievous smile, waved, and rushed out the door. No doubt to avoid dealing with his reaction, which held a heavy dose of jealousy rising to the surface.

Growling, he climbed out of bed and stalked to the bathroom so he could take a shower and be downstairs for breakfast before the little temptress could coax his hired help to drive her to her adventure.

Like it or not, Asher was going jet skiing.

Nikki stood in the shower, tipped her head back, and rinsed the conditioner out of her hair. She’d already washed up, finding herself sensitive to the touch. Memories of Asher’s fingers inside her and his mouth sucking her clit as he gave her the best orgasm ever, had washed over her. And she hadn’t even had sex with him yet.

Yes, yet. Because no matter how much he tried, Asher couldn’t deny the chemistry between them. He wanted her as much as she desired him. But right now he needed to punish himself for what he’d done and worry about what Derek would think. To avoid an argument, she’d let Asher believe she agreed with him. No repeats. No going further.

The man was delusional. She didn’t know when or who would initiate their next time, but she had no doubt they’d be tumbling into his comfortable bed again. Although she’d ace[pt him anywhere he was willing to take her, against a wall, in the shower. Bent over a table. She just wanted him.

None of these feelings or desires were familiar. She hadn’t slept with Lance. Not in the biblical sense, anyway. They’d fooled around and fallen asleep together. Mostly, she’d tossed and turned. But no matter how hard he’d pressed, something had held her back from sleeping with him. They lacked the connection with him she experienced with Asher.

Even their age difference didn’t bother her. Not when he understood her so well. She’d told him about her childhood, her problems, her life. Without him saying a word, a heavy warmth settled in her chest. He’d looked at her with those deep indigo eyes, and knew he understood. She’d felt the connection between them.

Why else would she sleep so well beside him, during a storm, no less?

She didn’t consider herself a romantic. She had never seen two people madly in love. Her parents had an arrangement, not a love match. Her mother would remain by her father’s side, raise his children, and create the perfect family for his White House run. In turn, she’d be the First Lady. Ambition first.

As for her brother, Derek hadn’t fallen head over heels, to give her an example of what true love looked like, either.

All she knew was that she enjoyed being with Asher. She liked pushing his buttons, surprising him, learning about him.
