When in Crete, the world is at my fingertips, a fact I plan to prove. They want to be bosses. Let’s see who rises to this occasion like one. I guarantee it won’t be either of them.
Constantine
“What’s this all about?” Adrian asks as we walk into the villa Joshua has invited us out to.
I look around and whistle. This is a nice setup. I grab a glass of champagne from the leggy blonde with the big boobs and sip it.
“Who cares? He’s come to us. Once we kill him and get him out of the way, America is ours.”
“You don’t find this a bit strange? He wasn’t supposed to be here for a few weeks.”
I shrug him off and move out to the pool, where the party seems to be set up. Lights and music welcome us. The pool has my full attention. It’s an infinity pool set before a gorgeous view of Mykonos, high up on a cliff that makes this place majestic in ambience.
“Look at our home. He will never have this, and now, we will run this and his home. Not the other way around,” I croon, placing my glass down to take my shirt off.
I kick my shoes off and move to enter the pool. Adrian makes a sound in the back of his throat. He worries too much.
Instead of climbing into the pool with me, he takes a seat on one of the lounge chairs. I relax in the water with my arms propped up behind me.
“Well, where is he?” Adrian mumbles.
“I don’t really care. When he arrives, the men know what to do.”
I dive into the water and swim to the edge that flows over the cliff. I can’t help wondering if this is one of Joshua’s properties from Pappoús. I’ll be happy to take this one.
As I’m having the thought, a gorgeous brunette exits the house. She hands a phone to Adrian and comes to hold another one out to me.
I move to take it from her as I look her over. Yes, I’ll bed this one before the night ends. With that thought, I move back to look out at the view as I lean on the invisible edge.
“This is the life,” I breathe to myself.
The phone in my hand rings. The one Adrian has does too. I lift a brow but answer.
“Hello,” I say into the device.
“Hello,” Adrian’s voice comes through a moment after.
I turn to look at him while still wading in the pool. He shrugs and I pull a face. The sound of a helicopter catches my ear. Not uncommon around the islands, so I ignore it.
“How are the accommodations? Are they to your liking?” Joshua croons into the phone, pulling my attention.
I grin. “Tzósoua. Yes, this is very nice, but where are you? We’re excited to see you.”
“Is that right?” I frown and turn as the sound of the chopper gets louder, as if it’s close by. I lean against the edge of the pool to look out for it. My mouth falls open as the helicopter rises right before me. As the vessel rises higher, Joshua comes into view. “Hello, cousins,” he says darkly.
“Fuck,” Adrian breathes into the phone.
Joshua looks me right in the eyes as he lifts a gun and pulls the trigger. I turn to see Adrian sprawled on the lounger with a hole in the center of his head. Turning back to Joshua, I go to plead for mercy. However, his gun is now pointed at me, his gaze still locked on me as well.
“Cousin, no, pl—”
Chapter 30
Go Home
Kelex
I walk into the dining room for breakfast with a smile on my lips. I slept like a baby. This morning when I woke and thought of the pool of red I left in Mykonos, I couldn’t be more satisfied.
“You did just what I expected,” Pappoús says as I take my seat.
I tilt my head as I study him. “Were you expecting something else?”
He looks me in the eyes, his expression unyielding. A plate is placed before him. The young woman who brought it in takes the fork he hands her and cleans it in front of him before opening her mouth to show him she has swallowed.
“Thank you, that will be all,” he says.
He then digs in himself. I’m pissed all over again to see he has to do this in his own home. My aunts and cousins have lost their fucking minds.
I can’t say I’m surprised, but I’m still in awe of the audacity. At least two of them are handled. I have no doubt he will take care of his daughters.
Turning his attention back to me, he smiles. “It was how I would have handled it when I was your age. Not messy. This is good. You show restraint.”
“But?”
“No, but. I want you to see we can be who we are without the brutality of Ulysses.”
