Her mind scrambled to remember how she got here. She didn’t remember anything between him picking her up in his claw and waking up now. She looked up at him and put together that he supported her as she floated on the surface of the water.

“You needed to get his scent off me, didn’t you?” she teased, remembering his outrage when she’d screamed at Oldrik’s touch. That had felt so bad. “He was saving me.”

“That’s my job.”

She kept her mouth from curving up in amusement at his tone. “You were busy flaming that jerk, Peterson.”

“I don’t believe you have any broken bones, Princess. Just way too many scrapes and scratches.”

“I knew walking would help him get away faster. I pretended I couldn’t walk and collapsed every time he pulled me to my feet. That didn’t keep him from fleeing and just dragging me behind. That outfit has to be ruined.”

“Don’t worry about your clothes. I burned them.”

She stared at him.

“They smelled like another dragon and Peterson.”

“Perfectly good reasons to torch innocent clothes,” she teased.

“No one is allowed to touch you, mate.”

“I should be prepared for caveman dragon behavior for a while, hmmm?”

A few seconds passed before he admitted, “Yes.”

“Noted. I don’t think I want to be away from you for a while, either. Besides, I’m going to be black and blue for months.”

A low growl rumbled in his chest, and the water around them heated.

Lalani looped an arm around his neck and pulled him down for a kiss. She loved the flash of green in his eyes when he lifted his mouth from hers a few minutes later. “Chill, Daddy. You’re going to boil the fish.”

The heat flooding from his body stopped. She rewarded him with another kiss. “Good Dragon.”

He looked so affronted Lalani couldn’t help laughing at him. That didn’t erase his expression.

“So—Sorry!” she told him, trying to control her mirth.

“This is not a laughing matter, human. You could have been hurt, or worse.”

Sobering, she reached up to cup his clenching jaw. “I know. I’m sorry for worrying you. Hopefully, all the Petersons are out of Wyvern now. They are bad news.”

“You’re never going out of my sight.”

“How about we go with that for two weeks and then renegotiate? There will always be times you feel it’s too dangerous to take me with you.” She watched his stern expression ease a bit as he processed the truth in that statement.

To distract him, she lifted her hand in front of her face to examine the dragon pattern that had emerged at his first touch. It had a green tint to the marks now. A result of touching another dragon?

“Does it hurt?” he asked quietly.

“Not now. It gave me a huge bolt when Oldrik picked me up,” she confessed. “I guess it’s reminding me who I belong to now.”

“Green looks good on you.”

“It feels better inside me,” she dared to suggest.

Heat flared in his gaze before he pulled back his arousal. “You are hurt, mate.”

“I’m getting better with every second you touch me. Imagine what would happen if you made love to me,” she suggested and stroked her hand over her shoulder to run between her breasts. She took a deep breath to lift her chest toward him.

“You are trying to tempt me, Princess,” he growled.

“Exactly. Am I succeeding?” Feeling braver than she’d ever dared to be, Lalani trailed her fingers over her stomach, not paying an iota of attention to her rounded belly. She concentrated on the heat in his gaze. When her hand reached her mound, a rumbling growl emerged from deep inside Khadar.

Suddenly, the arm supporting her legs released her. As her body tilted to stand in front of him, Khadar wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her flush against him.

“Oh! Did you burn your clothes, too?”

“I do not wish to hurt you, Lalani.” He ignored her joke.

“I’m not made of glass, Khadar. Remind me who my dragon is.”

His eyes flashed green as he lifted her to bite the curve of her neck and shoulder. The slight taste of pain skyrocketed her arousal, and Lalani felt her nails bite into his broad shoulders as her grip tightened. He boosted her higher as he tasted a path to press a kiss between her breasts. Turning his head, Khadar brushed the stubble on his cheeks over the sensitive flesh before capturing one nipple in his mouth.

She lifted a hand to wrap around the back of his head to hold him to her body, silently asking for more. Understanding her need, Khadar pulled the tip deep into his warmth and thrashed his tongue across it. She moaned with arousal, begging, “More. Please.”

Shifting her in his arms, he turned his attention to her other breast and repeated this treatment. He released one arm from around her waist, supporting her easily. Khadar stroked his free hand over her body, cupping her bottom.
