Schmidt wanted to argue and protest. I could see it in his eyes, but he merely nodded and sat back down.

“Fine. We’ll change Stormcloud. Together,” he muttered the last word.

I smiled at him, feeling pleased with myself. Maybe he didn’t like the idea of sharing money and power with the rest of us, but he had the opportunity to watch his academy become something powerful, fair, and whole again. That should’ve been reward enough.

“It’s the end of an era, Schmidt. Either keep up with us or be left behind,” I warned him before leaving his office. Now that Sol and Zephyr were back at the academy, it was time for me to hold a meeting much more important than the one I just had with Schmidt.

Hopefully, when today ended, I’d have everything I ever wanted.

CHAPTER 21

THEO

I lingered outside of Zephyr’s suite with bated breath, knowing that things would change the moment I walked through the door. Biba called a meeting for the four of us now that Zephyr and Sol had returned. I suspected part of the meeting would be discussing the academy and Zephyr and Sol’s trips, but I also knew another part of the meeting had to be about our feelings for Biba and the feelings she had for us as well.

I didn’t know what Biba would choose to do, but I hoped like hell that I didn’t lose her. It would kill me to watch her slip away after we had finally gotten so close to each other. Tonight was my last chance to fight for her love, even if it was just a piece of it.

I knocked on the door and waited, hearing footsteps and voices from inside. A few moments later, Zephyr opened the door and nodded to me, stepping aside to let me into his suite. I nodded to Sol and smiled at Biba, who sat on Zephyr’s large bed.

Sol and Zephyr sat at the head of the bed, while Biba and I sat on the foot of it, all facing each other. The air was tense as everyone glanced at each other, waiting for someone to speak first. Between our tense bodies and darting eyes, we all had something on our minds.

“Is your dad safe?” Biba asked Zephyr as she crossed her slim legs, her shorts riding up her thighs slightly. She wore a black and white striped tank top that clutched her figure, showing off her best curves under the waves of her golden hair.

“He is. No matter what anyone says, no one will find him,” Zephyr replied.

Biba nodded, looking content. She turned to Sol.

“Did you talk to your mom?” she asked, going down her checklist of meeting topics. She had adopted quite the leader-like persona lately, running this place like it was hers. After everything that happened, she deserved to run this place the right way.

Sol nodded, leaning his back against the headboard. His injury was fully healed at last, and he could move as much as he needed to.

“She knows that you’re off-limits,” he replied with a satisfied grin on his face.

I was glad to hear that. The last thing I needed was another threat against Biba, who was finally recovering from the chaos that happened not too long ago. The stand-off in the courtyard felt like yesterday, and I believed that feeling would last for a while. None of this seemed completely real.

Biba let out a relieved breath, leaning her shoulder against mine.

“Good. So, all of that is settled,” she said. “Schmidt is on board with the reform.”

“I’m guessing he’s not happy.” Zephyr smirked with a knowing look on his face.

Biba laughed softly and shrugged.

“He’ll be grateful for how much I spared him,” she told him. “Whether we like it or not, he’s run this school for years. He has the connections and the know-how we need to get Stormcloud back on track.”

“I guess we have taken over Stormcloud like originally planned. Just in a different way,” Sol said to Zephyr, sharing a smirk with him.

Even if I didn’t always get along with Sol and Zephyr, I was glad that they had let go of their King titles. They didn’t care to control all of the power or all of the money any longer. They wanted to do something good with their lives, and most importantly, they wanted to protect Biba. I could respect them for that.

“There’s one more thing I want to talk about,” Biba announced, looking between all of us. When we gazed back at her in silence, she brushed her hair behind her ear nervously. “We need to talk about our relationship. All of us.”

“What do you want to do?” I asked her. She led the charge, and we would follow. At the end of the day, we just wanted her to be happy.

Biba chewed on her lip as she lowered her eyes.
