My breaths became quick and panicked as I fought as hard as I could. Suddenly, I felt myself being lifted off the ground before being tossed over someone’s shoulder, knocking the breath right out of me. I was carried out of the room, but I had no idea where I was being taken to.
All I could think about was that I was probably going to die. This was the end. I got myself killed over burned belongings. I felt so stupid, so hopeless.
Suddenly, I was pulled off the person’s shoulder and shoved into what felt like a trunk. Panic shot up my throat as I tried to scramble out, but I could’ve been crawling deeper into the trunk for all I knew. I couldn’t see!
“No!” I shouted before pain exploded in the side of my head, knocking me back and down. The sound of the trunk closing echoed throughout the tiny space, and tears finally broke from my eyes.
This was it. Game over.
