Couldn’t he see that she preferred being super Little? Why couldn’t he read her mind? She furrowed her brow and kicked at the wall with her socked feet, frustrated.
She was behaving like a toddler, and she knew it, but she couldn’t stop it. It was beyond irrational for her to be mad at Daddy for not reading her mind.
Maybe he did know she wanted to be younger and he simply didn’t enjoy it as much as she did. She needed to be willing to compromise. She certainly couldn’t end a relationship simply because she was greedy and wanted him to do everything for her. That wasn’t fair.
She shuddered at the thought of ending this relationship. It was the furthest thing from her mind. She loved Bear with all her heart. They’d been talking about ending her lease because she never went to her condo anymore.
He wouldn’t suggest she move in with him permanently if he didn’t love her back. She knew he did. He’d told her he loved her. He wouldn’t say it if he didn’t mean it.
Daisy sniffled again and then the tears really started falling. She couldn’t stop them as they turned into sobs that weren’t quiet. She was a mess of emotions and sadness when strong hands suddenly landed on her shoulders.
She tipped her head to one side when Daddy handed her several tissues. “Get it all out, Baby girl,” he encouraged. “I’m going to go sit in the rocking chair. When you’re ready to talk, I’d like you to come sit on my lap.”
He released her shoulders, and she immediately missed his touch. She liked it when he was touching her. Even her shoulders. Or just her hand. That was part of why she liked to role play at a younger age—because he touched her more. He held her while he fed her and had no choice but to put his hands all over her when he changed her and bathed her.
She not only liked his touch, but she had to admit she got more aroused in her younger mindset than any other time, too. Was something wrong with her?
She kept crying as if her world was coming to an end. In a way, she felt like it was. She needed to come clean with her Daddy, but what if he didn’t want the same things as her and they couldn’t agree and this was it? The end of their relationship.
She shivered as she wiped her tears again and blew her nose. It was time to stop being a big baby and face her Daddy. Ironic. Stop being a baby. That was exactly what she didn’t want to stop.
Sucking up the last of her sniffles, she found the strength to stand. She needed to be brave and tell her Daddy what was on her mind. No matter what.
He reached for her the moment she met his gaze. “Come here, Baby girl.” His voice was gentle and loving. She didn’t deserve his kindness, and she almost started crying all over again.
Instead, she ran across the room and let him lift her onto his lap. She hugged him tightly around the neck for a long time, loving the way he rubbed her back and smoothed his hand down her hair.
He kissed her temple several times, too. Finally, he spoke. “It makes Daddy very sad that you’re so unhappy, Baby girl. It breaks my heart. I want to help you, but you have to tell me how.”
She released her tight grip and settled in his lap. “I’m sorry, Daddy. I didn’t mean to be naughty. I didn’t want to bother you with my problems. You already do so much for me. You’re the bestest Daddy in the world. I don’t want to be a greedy girl who can’t be happy with what she has.”
He stopped rocking and stiffened. “Is there something you don’t have that you need, Baby girl? Because if it’s within my means, I’ll buy it for you in a heartbeat. Surely you know that.”
She shook her head. “It’s not a thing, Daddy. It doesn’t cost money.”
He tipped her head back and met her gaze. His eyes were furrowed in confusion. “Please tell Daddy what’s going on. My heart is breaking.”
She swallowed hard and licked her lips. “I love everything about our relationship. I swear I do, Daddy. You’re the—”
He shook his head. “Bestest Daddy in the world? You already said that.”
She nodded. “Yeah. I guess I did.”
“And yet. I must not be quite the very bestest, bestest Daddy because I’ve missed a cue and I’m not fulfilling a need, am I?”
She looked down, hating herself.
He waited.
Finally, she took a deep breath and spit it out. “I want to be younger more of the time, Daddy.”
He flinched. “You want to be younger?” He rubbed her lower back. “You mean like when you take a bottle and wear a diaper?”
