“Wait—you heard a voice telling you what to do?” Cade looked surprised.
“Yes.” Andi nodded. “And I heard it in the cell where they had me locked up too. It—she—comforted me and told me everything would be all right. I know that sounds crazy. Maybe I was hallucinating—”
“No, you weren’t,” Cade interrupted excitedly. “You must have heard the Goddess—she was talking to you! The same way she talked to me and told me to come back and hear what you had to say.”
“The Kindred Goddess, you mean?” Andi raised her eyebrows. As a scientist, she had always been skeptical. But if both of them had been hearing the same voice… “You mean she told you to come back to me?” she asked.
Cade nodded.
“She told me I’d be ruining more than just my own life if I didn’t turn around and listen to you.”
“And she comforted me and told me how to deal with you when you went Primal.” Andi shook her head, dumbfounded. “I’ve always been kind of an agnostic but this…it’s amazing.”
“It’s meant to fucking be,” Cade said. He took both her hands in his and looked into her eyes. “I was an idiot, running away like that. I just couldn’t face you after what I did to you.”
“You were in Primal mode,” Andi reminded him. “You weren’t responsible for your actions.”
“Well I fucking feel responsible—I was pretty fucking rough with you,” Cade growled.
“It was scary,” Andi admitted. “But we got through it—both of us. And I knew you weren’t doing it on purpose. Honestly, Cade—I don’t blame you for any of it. And to be honest, you were, uh, giving me what my body needed.”
“Giving you what you needed?” He frowned incredulously.
“Because of the effects of the Magroagaricus trisporus spoors,” Andi reminded him. “And I’ve still got them in me,” she added, shifting on the couch uncomfortably.
Now that she was sitting so close to the big Hybrid, it felt like her body was going into overdrive. Feeling the warmth of his skin and smelling his warm scent was making her pussy feel empty and hot and wet at the same time. Her nipples were tight too—a reminder that he hadn’t sucked the Sweet Drops from them in days and days. There was never very much, but it had built up in the time they had been apart in the decontamination suites and now her breasts ached intensely.
Cade inhaled deeply and narrowed his eyes at her.
“You’re in need now, aren’t you, sweetheart? I can fucking smell it on you.”
Andi bit her lip and nodded.
“Yes,” she admitted. There was no sense in lying, even though it was terribly embarrassing. “I’ve pretty much been in need all week long—ever since we got back to the Mother Ship. I mean, I got used to you, uh, breeding me all the time on Zo’rath Three and I haven’t had any, er, ‘help’ since we came back.”
Cade frowned.
“Have you tried helping yourself?”
This was even more embarrassing, but Andi knew she had to answer truthfully.
“Yes,” she admitted. “But, uh, touching myself doesn’t do it. I need…” She bit her lip. “I need to be filled—to be bred. You see, the spoors don’t just make you, uh, horny—they make you want to…to try to get pregnant,” she finished in a rush. Her face felt so hot she was sure her hair was in danger of catching fire.
“Hmm…” Cade frowned. “Well, I can’t get you pregnant because I can’t Bond you to me.”
“I guess we would have formed a bond if it was possible already, huh?” Andi asked, shifting on the couch again as she remembered all the times Cade had bred her as a Manimal.
“No, not necessarily.” He frowned. “Because in order to Bond you, I would have had to knot you and bite you—filling you with my essence and my seed at the same time.”
“Oh.” Andi nodded. “You bit me several times, but you only, uh, knotted me once—that last time,” she said. Her heart was speeding and she could feel her body getting hotter as her need got worse. “So what would happen if you did that—I mean, if you really did try to Bond me to you?” she asked.
Cade shook his head.
“A Failed Bonding—I had that happen to me once before when I tried to bond a female to me. It was fucking painful for everyone involved.” He sighed. “Her name was Cy’thara. We didn’t last long after that. It was years ago but I’ve never wanted to repeat the experience.”
“Oh,” Andi said again, looking down at her hands, which were clasped in her lap. “Then…I guess you don’t want to, uh, do anything, huh?”
“Do anything?” Cade raised an eyebrow.
Andi cleared her throat, determined to be more direct.
“I mean, you don’t want to help me out with my problem—with the way the spoors are making me need to be bred,” she clarified, trying not to blush again and failing miserably.
