“Julia Williams,” he says with a huge smile on his face.
“No.” I shake my head. “Immediately no.” I glare at him. “Get up,” I say as I hear more people coming to the door.
“Jesus, it’s now,” Michael states. “I thought it was after dinner.” He throws his head back. “I’m starving.”
“Chase,” I say between clenched teeth. “It’s not funny.”
“Everything with you is funny,” he says with the biggest smile on his face. “Every day with you is a gift.”
“I just threw up,” Michael announces, making me laugh while Jillian hits him.
“What is going on?” I hear Matthew from the back as he walks forward. “Karrie, he’s doing it.”
“This has to be the worst proposal of life,” Chase says and I can’t help but laugh at him.
“Oh my God, it’s happening,” Karrie gushes, putting her hands to her mouth, walking to the front. “Oh, my baby.” She looks at Matthew. “All gone now.”
“I’m not married,” Vivienne reminds her from beside her. “So you still have one to go.”
“Julia Williams,” Chase says again. “Can you put me out of my misery and marry me?”
“We just started dating,” I remind him and all the guys just laugh. “We technically just moved in together.”
“He’s getting the cow for free,” Vivienne says. “Is no one going to mention that?”
“Vivi,” Matthew and Karrie both say with clenched teeth.
“I’m just saying,” she huffs. “Congratulations.” She looks at us. “Now, I’m going to eat.”
“Aw, congratulations, you two.” Matthew comes out and gives me a hug first and then one to Chase.
“She didn’t say yes,” Michael says, laughing.
“She’s living with him,” Max says, looking at me and his face is beaming. “That’s a yes.”
“Show us the ring,” Karrie urges, and I swear my head moves around seeing everyone fill the doorway, thinking this is some sort of prank.
“I’m dreaming?” I look at Jillian, who just laughs. “Also, I’m not talking to you.”
“I didn’t know he was going to do this.” She rolls her eyes and I glare. “Okay, fine, I knew he was going to do it, I just didn’t know now, now.”
“Oh, put it on her,” Allison urges and I look over at Chase, who just looks at me.
My heart speeds up and my stomach is flipping. I can’t describe his look, but it’s a look I see every day. It’s that look he gives me, his lips form into a little smile and his eyes literally twinkle. It’s a look that says I love you and I’m so happy you’re here. He holds up the ring between his thumb and forefinger. “Chase,” I say, the tears just pouring down my face.
He holds out his hand for mine and automatically my hand moves to his. He slides the ring down my finger and all I can do is crush my face into his chest. His arms wrap around me as our family members scream and holler around us. He bends his head and whispers in my ear, “You were made for me.”
EPILOGUE ONE
Chase
One Month Later
The front door slams shut and I hear her yell my name, “Chase Grant!”
“Oh, fuck,” I hear from beside me as my father just looks at me. “What did you do?”
“I have no idea,” I whisper to him before yelling back, “In here.” I look over at my uncle Max, who is sitting watching the game with a beer in his hand, hiding the smile on his face. After dinner the men decided they would come over and help me hang my television. It made sense to just watch the game here instead of at my parents’ house.
“I know that tone”—Michael just chuckles—“someone is in trouble.”
“That tone,” Dylan says, shaking his head. “That tone is one step after someone is in trouble.” He uses his hand in the air for me to see exactly how high.
“Can’t be that bad,” Cooper says from beside them. “She didn’t call him a motherfucker.”
“Can’t be that bad, she came home.” Wilson laughs at his own joke before drinking a sip of water.
The minute she peeks her head into the media room, I can tell she’s pissed and I’m not the only one. “Don’t say anything,” my father whispers to me. “Actually, just say no or yes.” I look over at him confused. “Just deny, deny, deny.”
“Hey, baby,” I say to her softly and she just shakes her head.
“Don’t you ‘hey, baby’ me, Chase Grant.” She folds her arms over her chest and cocks her hip and even when she’s mad my whole body lights up for her. “Is there something that you need to tell me?”
“It’s a trick question,” Cooper warns, not making eye contact with Julia. Instead, he just looks at the television screen now playing a commercial.
“Don’t answer,” Dylan mumbles, pretending to look around the room.
“Hey, honey, look how nice the television is,” Max says to her and she ignores him.
