“I got all your favorites.” He turned to open the picnic basket. “A cheeseburger with bacon.” I threw my head back and laughed hysterically. “And some chips.” He took out my favorite bag of chips.

“Look at you taking notes and stuff.” I looked around.

“Only the best for my girl,” he said the words, and I avoided even looking at him.

“Is that wine?” I asked him, pointing at the silver bucket as I breathed in and out slowly.

“It is wine.” He grabbed a bottle and the corkscrew, then the wineglass beside the picnic basket. “This is the same one you tried two days ago.” He poured me a glass. “And you said it was a chef’s kiss.” He even imitated how I kissed my fingers.

I tried to block out the way he paid attention to me, but my walls were slowly beginning to crumble. “Look at you paying attention,” I joked with him, and he leaned in and kissed my neck, right under my ear. He handed me the glass of wine while he got himself a beer from the basket. His hand twisted open the top of the beer. “To more smiles.” He smirked at me.

“To more smiles,” I agreed with him as my glass clinked his beer bottle before I took a sip of the white wine.

“So how was your day?” he asked me as he turned and brought out food for us to eat.

“Same old, same old,” I answered him as I unwrapped my cheeseburger. “What about you? How was your day?”

“Good,” he replied and then looked at me from the side. “Got a call from my agent today.”

“Oh, anything good?” I asked him as I took a bite of my cheeseburger.

“Last week, I went on a casting call for a movie.” He unwrapped his own food, his eyes looked down. “I think it’s going to be a big movie. I really wanted to nail it.” His eyes looked up at me. “Got the call this afternoon from my agent.” I stopped breathing at that point, not sure how this was going to go.

“Oh my God!” I shrieked. “Did you get it?” I asked him as I dropped my cheeseburger. “If you didn’t, it’s their loss.”

He smirked at me right before his face filled with a big, beaming wide smile. “I got the role.”

I clapped my hands together and jumped into his arms. His burger went flying to the side as I lay down on top of him. “I’ve never dated a movie star before.” The minute the words came out of my mouth I wanted to take them back. “I mean, I’ve never had a movie star in my bed.”

He laughed at me as he wrapped his arms around my waist. “Well, I guess there is a first time for everything.” His hand roamed down from my back to my ass as he squeezed it.

“I think this calls for a celebration,” I said, sitting down on him. My arms crisscrossed in front of me as I took off my shirt, leaving me topless on top of him. It took him two moves for him to be sitting up with me, his mouth slammed straight onto mine.

“I guess you’ll be my trophy,” he teased, right before he flipped me on my back and gave me the best orgasm of my life.

The next morning, he brought the box I had picked up when I walked in and told me to open it. I grabbed the box as I walked to the kitchen, his T-shirt was the only thing I had on. I peeled the tape off the top of the box and pushed open the flaps. My hand removed the clear bubble wrap ball. “What is this?” I asked him as I opened the box under the bubble wrap. It was a mug that said “Taco Tuesday.”

“I got you a mug for each day,” he stated as he cocked his hip against the counter, “to add to your collection.”

I hear the coffee machine grind out, making me wake up from my daydream. “Asshole,” I mumble as I pour milk into my cup. I’m pissed he’s taking space in my brain, I tell myself as I walk back over to the counter and do what I should have done yesterday before he came barging back into my life.

SIX

ROMEO

I’m eating my toast when there is a knock on the door. I get up, dusting off my hands before walking over. I don’t know why, but I secretly hope it’s Gabriella. My face fills with a smile as I open the door and see a woman standing there. The smile wipes off my face when I see it’s not Gabriella. “Hello?”

“Mr. Beckett,” the woman says to me. “My name is Marcella,” she introduces herself to me and my eyebrows pinch together, wondering who the hell she is. “Kristina sent me.”
