“Your normal ranch, but I had them add oil and vinegar and toast the veggies with the meat.”
“Fuck, this is like Heaven.” He pecked my lips. “Thanks, beautiful. I was fucking starving, so right now, you’re a fucking Godsend.”
I giggled before I grabbed my own sandwich and took a bite. Once I was finished eating, Christian took our trash and threw it away before he grabbed me a bottle of water. I greedily drank the cool liquid down before I curled up against his side on the couch and closed my eyes. “Wake me up when you need to begin getting ready for your next appointment,” I whispered.
He pressed his lips to the top of my head before he wrapped his arm around my shoulder, his other hand resting on my thigh. “You’re lucky your Axel’s sister. Pretty sure he wouldn’t allow this if it were anyone else.” He laughed.
I smiled. “Family privileges.” I snuggled closer to him. “Now, shh. I really need a nap.”
He trailed the tips of his fingers up and down my arm, slowly lulling me to sleep.
I looked up from the book I was reading when I heard the front door open. My heart picked up speed in my chest, but Caiden quickly emerged around the corner, easing my fears. “Easy, baby.” He walked over to me and cupped my face in his hands, pressing his lips to mine. “It’s just me. How was your day?” he asked as he dropped onto the couch next to me.
I dog-eared my spot in the book and closed it, leaning forward to set the book on the coffee table. “Fine,” I told him. “I slept for a couple of more hours after you guys left for work, and then I got up and ate lunch with Christian.” I gestured to my book. “I came home after taking a nap in Christian’s office, and I’ve been reading that since I got home.”
Caiden suddenly got up. I watched him as he moved to the bedroom that he, Christian, and I now shared. “Let me get changed, and then I want to take you somewhere.”
Excitement filled my veins. “Where?” I called after him.
He laughed as he disappeared into our room. “You’ll see, baby.”
I pouted. I hated that answer. He knew I would fret over it until I figured it out, but Caiden liked to do things to remind me to trust him, and this was one of those things. He wasn’t as soothing and calming as Christian was. Christian was the person who smoothed out my rougher edges, keeping me calm when I felt like things were spinning out of control.
Caiden was the one that kept me on edge, pushing my boundaries but never pushing them too far. He just forced me to maintain my trust and security in both him and his brother.
And somehow, the two of them balanced each other out, keeping me grounded.
I walked over to the shoe closet and grabbed my slip-on shoes, pulling them on my feet. Caiden unexpectedly smacked my ass, and I squeaked in alarm, swinging around to face him. The man had a weird obsession with my ass.
“One of these days, I’m going to claim that ass,” he warned me.
My cheeks burned, desire curling low in my belly at the thought of Caiden doing what he was insinuating. He smirked and gripped the side of my neck, yanking my lips up to his. “Soon,” was all he promised.
I pouted. He pecked my lips. “My brother is right. You really are fucking adorable.”
Just when my cheeks had started cooling, they flamed up again. He laughed and grabbed my hand in his, gently tugging me behind him toward the front door. He typed in the passcode to set the alarm before he shut and locked the front door behind us.
I ran my eyes over him. He had pulled on a pair of snug-fitting skinny jeans and high-tops with a plain black t-shirt that clung to the muscles in his arms and chest.
“Jesus,” I whispered.
Caiden smirked at me. “You really have no filter, do you?”
I covered my face with my hands. “I normally do, I swear.”
He laughed. “Come on, baby. It’s going to get dark in a couple of hours, and I want you to enjoy this.”
Caiden led me away from the park he drove us to, my hand in his. “You like nature, right?” he asked me.
“Yeah.” I looked up at him in confusion. “Caiden, what in the hell do you have planned?”
He pressed his finger to my lips as he led me on a paved trail. He then pointed straight ahead. My eyes widened in amazement as I stared at the deer in front of me. He grinned down at me before he pressed a kiss to my temple. “Come on. I come out here all of the time. There’s plenty more,” he whispered.
