I can’t believe this is happening.

I can’t believe he’s game for this.

I can’t believe he’s making it come true.

My mind whirls with loving disbelief; the best kind of disbelief there ever could be. As if I couldn’t fall for Donnelly more, he’s not just quadrupling my feelings for him—he’s pressing the infinity button repeatedly.

With my tee covering a sliver of my thighs, I rest my hands gently on the bed.

Sleeping.

I am asleep. With one eye open. Because I’m peeking at Donnelly.

His back still to me, he lifts the radio. “I’ve just landed on an unknown planet, and my sensors have been alerting me of an unidentified species. As protocol 2134LD8 states, I have to examine the species for potential threats to the home planet Rymos.”

He just named a planet in Human Him, Cosmic Her. He could’ve made anything up, but he chose something from my story. Something he remembered reading.

My pulse is climbing, and I bite my lip to keep from grinning.

“In Log 010, I’ll be relaying my findings.” Donnelly finally turns towards me, but before he notices I’m looking, I shut both eyes.

Darkness. I tune into my senses, listening to his self-assured footsteps as he approaches the bed. How far away is he now? I can almost feel the heat of his presence, and I squirm a little, trying to stay still, but expecting his hands on me is already prickling my skin.

“She’s of unknown origin,” he says in a whisper, the quietness of his voice cranking up the intimate inferno. “At first glance, she’s not hostile. About 5-foot, 5-inches. Long hair, a light brown shade. Round cheeks. IMO: she’s a sight to behold.”

I restrain another smile, my pulse racing.

“I’m gonna have to take a closer look.”

The bed undulates with his weight.

He’s climbed aboard. “She’s shifting her legs, just a bit. It might be from me, but she appears mostly docile. I’m about to place a hand on what appears to be her leg.” Slowly, softly, gently, he splays his hand over my ankle, and his palm tenderly glides up to my knee, the friction tingling me. “Her breathing has changed.”

So has his.

It’s deeper, hoarser.

His hand creates hot tracks along my skin, rising further up my leg. “This is softer flesh,” he whispers. “Likely a thigh. Memo-subnote: something about this unknown species is making it harder for me to pull away, and I feel my body responding to hers. I have to get closer.”

He feels his body responding to mine. Those words are a stroke between my legs, and he hasn’t even physically touched me there.

Donnelly splits my knees. Just enough to kneel between them. “On closer examination…” His warm breath nears my neck, and another tingle zips along my skin. “She smells…floral.” He inhales against my collar, and my breath shallows, craving all of him as the feather-light sensations overwhelm me.

He speaks quietly again. “It’s…intoxicating.” His nose caresses the length of my collarbones as he breathes me in. “I am…insanely attracted to her scent.” The gruff depth of his voice is turning me on, just knowing he’s turned on. His hands rise up to my hips again while he breathes me in down the valley of my breasts and towards my heat.

My fingers tighten on the comforter, aching for Donnelly.

“She’s squirming, but she hasn’t woken up yet.” He’s pouring fuel onto the desire that’s swirling inside me. “I need to inspect whatever’s under her clothes. She’s wearing some type of fabric.”

The anticipation almost detonates me. I sense Donnelly sitting back up. Knelt, his fingers toy with the hem of my tee, his knuckles grazing the soft skin around my hipbones. And then he pulls the T-shirt up, and I lift my back off the bed and shift my arms to help him, so I’m not a heavy lump as he tugs the tee over my head and completely off my body.

Only wearing black panties, I lie back down. I’m very lanky, but I’ve tried to love my gangly body. Even if, when I was younger, Jeffra was stuck in my head.

Doesn’t she look like a twig on a dead tree?

Haven’t you heard, Luna? Strong is pretty. Do a squat. Eat a protein bar. Just some friendly advice.

I push her so far out of my mind.

He’s the only one here. He’s the only one I care about.

I peek open one eye.

Donnelly is drinking in my frame. He’s looking at me like I’m worthy of adoration, not hatred. Like I truly am a beautiful queen that he found on some faraway planet. Like he can’t believe he’s in my atmosphere, and my heart fills all over again.

Gently, I shut both eyes.

“Memo-subnote: it’s becoming harder to not push inside this girl. Pun intended ‘cause I’m fucking hard right now. What’s she doing to me?” An aching grunt comes out of him, and I almost open my eyes to see, but I feel his hand press near my shoulder. He’s angled over me. “Her nipples are perked, and her breath is quickening.”
