“I don’t know what to wear Sierra,” I groaned, flinging around random clothes in my room. “Nothing looks right. Rowan is a billionaire, and he’s used to women being kitted out to the nines. How can I wear any of this out with him? Half of it is jumble sale stuff, and the other half, I got on sale from Banana.”

My friend giggles.

“You are making too much of this Nats. Just put on a black dress and be done with it. Your black body con dress is fantastic and will work for anyplace he takes you. Besides, you know that guys can’t tell anyways. You could be wearing a fifty dollar cocktail dress or a five thousand dollar evening gown, and they don’t even notice.”

I grin.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. Okay, black body con it is.”

My friend nods smartly while holding the dress my way.

“Come on, put it on, girlfriend. Besides, you’re a knock out so you look good in anything. What millionaire wouldn’t want to take you out?”

“Good point,” I teased. “I really should be getting more date offers from millionaires.”

My friend laughs too.

“Yeah, but you two had a connection, so there’s no need to be nervous. Just go on the date and be yourself. That’s who he met and that’s who he asked out. So just be you. This doesn’t have to be so complicated. You can have fun with no expectations, girlfriend, but you have to relax. This over thinking every little detail is going to ruin it and that’s not like you at all. You’re a strong, independent woman who doesn’t need a man.” Then, Sierra started doing the Beyonce dance, shaking her hand rhythmically as she talked. “Come on, you know you want to do it with me.”

“No, actually I don’t,” I say, rolling my eyes.

“Yes, you do,” she cajoled while shaking her ass and waving her hand, brown curls bouncing.

I started doing it with her, and soon we were leaping about the room like savages, screeching and whooping before dissolving into giggles.

“You’re the best, you know that Sierra?” I ask, breathless from laughter. She nods.

“I know,” she says smugly. “And you love me for it. Now, put on that dress!”

Still breathless, I do as my friend commands and slip on the black dress before pulling my hair up in a high ponytail to tie it all together.

“Do I look like a sophisticated woman who dates billionaires?”

My friend nods with a sassy smile.

“Absolutely, girl! Now get downstairs so he doesn’t come up here and look at this hell hole that we live in!”

With a giggle, I grab my purse and then leave the apartment with one last wave before clattering down the steps to our building’s lobby. It’s not really a lobby. It’s just a landing area where the stairs start, but Rowan was already standing there and he looked so handsome that my heart stopped. The gorgeous man was dressed casually in jeans and a button up shirt, but there was no hiding his broad chest, the long legs, or the way his blue eyes sparkled.

“Hey honey,” he greets, leaning in to kiss me.

We kiss passionately before I pull back, breathless once more.

“I didn’t know what to wear. Am I over-dressed?” I asked in a worried tone.

He shakes his head, that blue gaze taking in every inch of my body.

“No, not at all. You look perfect, sweetheart.”

I smile.

“Thank you, I’m glad you like it.” Then, Rowan leans in for another kiss before taking my hand and leading me outside to where a huge black SUV waits at the curb.

“This way, sweetheart,” he motioned while opening the door. Of course, I should have known he had an expensive private car service. Heart beating with anticipation, I slid into the luxurious interior as my man got in after me.

The driver already seemed to know where we were going and soon, we were winding our way through the streets of Manhattan. The ride was smooth, and infinitely nicer than the subway.

“I have to confess something,” I said, a little embarrassed. “I didn’t get a single thing done this week at work, and was only thinking about this date. That’s terrible right? I know I shouldn’t tell you because you’re the boss, but I’m bad at dating. Okay, clearly, I’m bad at this altogether. I’m going to stop talking now.”

I pulled my purse up to my face and covered it. Why did I just confess all of that to Mr. Crane? If I had hoped to be sexy and cool on this date, I was already doing a terrible job at it.

But he merely chuckles low in his chest.

“Put that down,” he pulled on my purse. “Don’t be embarrassed because of the truth. I’m surrounded by people who lie to me every day, so I like that you tell the truth. I find it sexy. You’re sexy,” he said before moving his hand onto my thigh and gently kissing me. “Besides, my confession is that I thought about you a lot this week too.”
