“You are so beautiful. My boy, you have done well.” I’ve always been her boy, her favorite since we met. They believed in me when I was tired and unsure of myself. Maria has been more of a mother to me in the past six years that I’ve known Maria than my mother has my entire life.

“Maria, let us leave them. We will bring out something to drink. Vino?”

“Water for both.” Maria raises her brows, looking to Ella’s belly and then back up with the obvious question.

“Not yet,” I answer. “I’m driving, and Ella is not old enough.”

“Very well.” She gives me a warning look that I’m confident I’ll hear about later. Like I said, a true mother. She kisses my cheek and then hands me two menus. I like to confuse them with my order because I love so much of what they make that I don’t always get the same thing.

“They seem like wonderful people,” Ella says as she takes a seat in the booth, and then I sit across from her.

“They really are. Maria and Sal are like a second family to me.”

“Do they have a daughter?” I flex my cheek muscle but manage to contain my laughter. It’s not funny, but it’s cute that she’s jealous.

“Yes, they do, and she’s happily married with four children and, from what I understand, another on the way.” That seems to satisfy her, and she opens a menu with pink-stained cheeks.

“So, how was your day today? Anything serious happen at the hospital?”

“Yes, as soon as I clocked in, there was a gunshot patient. Although it was a minor injury, and we sent him on his way with the Naperville PD.”

“What? Why?”

“He was shot, robbing a gas station or a liquor store, I believe, and the bullet hit his ass, missing all the vital bits, but enough of that. I don’t want to talk about anyone’s ass unless it’s yours.”

“Always thinking about my ass.” She playfully rolls her eyes and then lifts up her menu to hide how much that turns her on.

“Always thinking about your everything,” I say just above a whisper over my own menu.

“Let’s eat so you can do all the things you’re thinking.” We make quick work of ordering and eating. I barely remember my social graces an hour later as I rush Ella out of the restaurant and back into the car, my dick throbbing all the way home. She’s in for a long afternoon of fucking.

Chapter 8

Ella

I can’t believe I’m going to meet his parents and their friends. Edward tells me it’s no big deal because they don’t mean shit to him, but I’m still a wreck. Everyone is going to judge me. I’ve nothing to offer Edward but my body and heart, which I gladly give to him. Over the past two days, four separate deliveries of clothes came, along with shoes and undergarments. I loved that he picked out so many things, but it felt wrong to take advantage of his generosity. So while he was at work, I cooked, cleaned, and took Jack for walks as payment. He’s given me so much more, and I’m feeling the apparent difference in our situations.

Today he brought me a beautiful light blue dress with matching flats that cost more than I make in a month. I step out of the bathroom, and Edward is standing there in a dark grey suit with a light blue tie that matches my dress. His broad shoulders and taut pecs are accentuated by the devilish smirk on his face. He grazes his teeth over his bottom lip while drinking in the sight of me. My pussy gushes as he continues to stare.

“Wow, you are gorgeous. I’m one lucky man.” He slides his arm around my waist and pulls me in for a deep, passionate kiss.

His phone goes off, interrupting our moment. It’s an unwelcome interruption, but it’s for the best or we would be naked and in bed.

“Come on. They’re waiting for me to get there,” he grumbles, taking my hand and leading me out of the bedroom.

“What about Jack?” He hasn’t been out since I took him this morning.

He smiles at me, kissing my cheek. “I took him out while you were doing your hair. By the way, your hair looks incredible.” It’s a fancy updo with hanging curls that frame my face and fall down my neck. I watched the tutorial video on YouTube on his laptop earlier. Because of everything that happened, I still don’t have a phone.

We head downstairs and give Jack another pat on the head and a scratch behind the ears before we leave. We take Edward’s nice sedan because he wants me to be comfortable while he drives.

“We should have gotten a limo so I could have had my way with you in the back seat. Now I have to wait until tonight,” he grunts out, clutching the steering wheel a little too tightly.
