“This isn’t about the baby, Mila.”

“Maybe, not but how about you meet me in the middle? Maybe we can start off by dating?”

“Dating?” His face turns to disgust at my suggestion.

“See if we’re compatible. And if you really want to be with me or you just think you do because your caught up in this whole thing.”

“I want to be with you. There’s no question. There’s no doubt,” he growls.

“I’m scared,” I finally admit. “I like you. Like really like you. I haven’t stopped thinking about you, but—”

“Okay,” he says, cutting me off.

“Really?” I don’t know why I feel a pang of disappointment that he’s giving in so quickly.

This is what I wanted. For us to slow down and take a breath. Was I enjoying his Neanderthal ways more than I was willing to admit? Maybe so now that I see they might be taken from me.

“I’ll show you.” I swear I see a mysterious glint in his eyes. “And there is no reason we can’t be married while I do this. Now I need to feed you and then you’ll feed me.” I fight a laugh.

“Okay, I’ll order you something. What would you like?” I reach for a notepad on my desk. “I’m craving pasta, but we can—”

“I’ll order you pasta,” he says, cutting me off as he starts to nibble at my ear.

“What about you?” My words come out all breathy.

“I want to feed you pasta and then eat your pussy.” His hand slips under my dress to cup my sex.

“Archer!” I gasp.

“What else would I want you to feed me besides your pussy? I’ve been thinking about eating it all morning.” His fingers dip into my panties. I drop my head back to rest on his shoulder as his fingers toy with my clit. “You were so tempting in bed this morning. You know how hard it was to let you sleep? I wanted to spread your thighs and feast.”

“Archer,” I moan. His fingers start to move faster over my clit. I spread my legs a little wider, giving him better access.

“Instead, I had to fuck my hand in the shower thinking about all the things I was going to do to you when you finally say I do and become my wife. I kept thinking about all the years ahead that I’m going to get to fuck you in so many ways. All mine.” He sinks his teeth into my neck, taking a small nip at me.

It triggers my orgasm. I start to cry out his name, but his other hand goes over my mouth, muffling the sound as I come.

“No one hears those sounds but me,” he whispers into my ear. His fingers are still circling my clit, drawing out my orgasm until I melt against him. My body goes completely lax. “I’m going to need to soundproof this office.” He pulls his fingers out from my panties, bringing them to his mouth. “A taste to hold me over,” he says before slipping them into his mouth and sucking them clean. “Now tell me, love. What kind of pasta do you want?”

I turn my head to peek up at him. I’m guessing the wooing has begun. If not, I'm not going to last two days before I’m begging him to marry me instead.

CHAPTER 9

ARCHER

I toss down my phone in frustration. The text from Ember says Mila still hasn’t picked out a dress and that it needs to be done tomorrow morning at the latest because it will take at least a couple of days to have the alterations made, and that’s only if I’m willing to pay an exorbitant overtime charge. I am. Money is not a concern here, but time is.

From the expression on Mila’s face, she appears satisfied. She’s been sexed up six ways to Sunday, fed her favorite pasta, had chocolate cake for dessert, and is lounging in front of the television wearing a silk Dolce & Gabanna pajama set with red Swarovski decorated buttons and chiffon roses at the collar. She looks beautiful, pleased, and satiated, but underneath her pleasantness is a thread of anxiousness. Her call to her parents did not go over well.

Her mom wants her to come home to Colorado where the air is cleaner instead of the “hell hole that is Vegas.” That was the last bit that I overheard because Mila covered up the mouthpiece, whispered something into the phone, and disappeared into the bathroom. She apologized afterward, saying that her parents are in shock. I offered to fly them out, but she refused. Her father would be offended. I’m the one offended they let her live in that bare apartment with a folding table and a futon.

I’m also irritated that they aren’t here by now. There are direct flights, and the wedding is taking place in a matter of days. They should be ensconced in one of our presidential suites instead of dawdling in Colorado.
