His hands go to my behind. “You already do.”

Knock, knock sounds at the door. Henley steps back from me. “Come in,” he calls.

A man opens the door. “Hen.” He looks up and sees me. “Oh, I’m sorry to interrupt.”

“No, no, please come in.” Henley smiles. “This is Juliet. Juliet, this is Ronan.”

“Hi, Ronan.” I shake his hand.

“Hello, Juliet. Lovely to meet you.” His eyes flick to Henley. “I’m having some trouble getting into the new program.”

“Did you put in the password?”

“Yeah, but it’s asking me for some code or something that is going to be sent to your phone.”

“Ah, okay.” He grabs his phone. “I’ll come and sort it out with you. Back in a moment, Juliet.” He sits me in his chair behind his big fancy desk before leaving with Ronan.

I sit and look around his big office and smile. Wow . . . he really is successful.

I mean, I knew it, but until I saw how swanky his offices are and all his staff buzzing around, it hadn’t really sunk in.

I run my hands over the glass-topped desk and glance down to the drawers. I wonder what he keeps in there. I pull the top one open and instantly see something I don’t want to.

His burner phone.

Ugh, I hate this fucking phone. I pick it up and look at it. How many women are just waiting in here for him to call them?

“What are you doing?” a voice snaps.

I glance up to see Jenny standing at the door. “Oh . . .”

Fuck.

“Don’t go through his things,” she snaps before marching over and snatching the phone from my hand.

“I beg your pardon?” I frown, shocked.

“Do not come into Henley’s office and touch his private things,” she repeats. “I will not have it.”

What the fuck?

“Jenny, I’m his girlfriend. We have no secrets.”

She smiles sarcastically. “Of course you don’t.”

Fuck off . . . Jenny.

“I don’t appreciate your tone,” I say.

“You don’t have to.” With another fake smile, she walks out with his burner phone in her hot little hand.

I officially hate Jenny . . . ugh, I’m infuriated. I can hear my angry heartbeat pumping blood through my body.

She’s been with him a long time. I have to be calm about this and play my cards right, or I’m going to look like a jealous psychopathic girlfriend.

Game on, Jenny. Don’t fuck with me.

Henley

“What do you mean you’re taking a week off?” Jenny gasps. “Since when?”

“Since now.” I sit back down at my desk and turn to my computer.

“Your schedule is way too busy this month to take a vacation.”

“Cancel my appointments.” I open the spreadsheet.

“I’ve been putting off your visit to Dubai for over twelve months. The only place you should be going is there,” she huffs as she comes and stands beside my desk. “It’s just not possible,” she adds.

My eyes rise to meet hers, impatience getting the better of me. “Jenny . . .”

“Yes, sir.” She folds her arms.

“I do not need your permission to take time off.”

“This is untoward . . .” She rearranges the papers on my desk. “You are acting out of character.”

I narrow my eyes as I stare at her. “Are you referring to Juliet?”

“I . . .” She pauses.

“You what?”

“I’m not sure you are thinking clearly, sir.”

I lean back in the chair, my pen between my fingers. “And why is that?”

“Well, you hardly know this woman. How do you know she’s not after your money?”

“We dated three years ago, well before she knew about my money.”

Her eyes hold mine.

“I know her a lot better than you think.”

“I don’t like it,” she snaps.

“You don’t have to.”

“I’m just concerned . . .”

“Enough, Jenny,” I snap, cutting her off. “I am not explaining myself to you. I heard you were rude to her yesterday.” Juliet didn’t tell me this, but I’m reading between the lines. She was definitely ruffled about something after I returned to my office. Knowing Jenny like I do, I know something happened while I was out of my office.

She steps back onto her back foot, affronted.

“You treat Juliet with utmost respect at all times, or you will have me to deal with. Do I make myself clear?”

She twists her lips, annoyed. “Yes, sir.”

I exhale, frustrated. Seriously . . . is everyone purposely trying to piss me off?

She walks toward the door and turns back to me. “You have a visitor waiting in the lounge. Michael Swartz.”

“Send him in.”

“Yes, sir.” She disappears out of the office.

Juliet

I turn onto my street, deep in thought. My eyes instantly go to Henley’s house. It’s in all darkness. It’s after midnight. He’s obviously asleep.

We didn’t speak today.

It’s fine. He’s going to call me tomorrow. Stop overthinking everything. I exhale heavily. God, I hate this. The man has me jumpy. His past behavior has been so sporadic that I have no idea if his craziness will return to ruin my love life.
